A peak into the offices of web 2.0 companies

Charl posted a fantastic article about the offices of today’s internet companies on Bandwidth Blog and after he showed me I was hooked. I remember seeing pictures of the Google Plex many moons ago and as an interior design junkie, this kind of thing is right up my ally!

Here’s a bunch of pictures from his blog post, but we sure to head on over to his article, as there’s a lot more photographs and some good information!

Blip TV Offices

Gigaom Offices

 Google Offices

 Jaiku Offices

Linked In Offices

 Net Vibes Offices

 Skype Offices

Songbird Offices

 Tocquigny Offices

Twitter Offices

Be sure to click here and read more about these offices on Bandwidth Blog!

Which one is your favourite, let me know :)

For me Songbird has to win :) that’s the type of environment that would get me working productively:) plus the nice big dual monitors are very nice :P I’m sure Chris you will agree with me there;)

Songbird has an awesome layout ya, but the Tocquigny offices also look great. It’s actually really hard to decide!

The Yeigo offices are actually super cool as well, I must get some photos and post them!

  3. Rox says:

Songbird one looks like a tidy, organised version of our office, hehehe. I think that one seems the most chilled, and yes, I would get more done in that one. As for the dual monitors, hell i don’t know how i managed to cope with just one!

  4. Mike says:

    I like GigaOM and Tocquigny

  5. Chris M says:

Songbird is great, but my favourite is Tocquigny – it’s that modern look that I dig :)

  6. retrosaint says:

    wow these are nice!

netvibes reminds me of a real techie office.

my vote goes for songbird, but i rate blip can be comfortable for those really late office nights, kitchen like 2 meters away. :)

  7. retrosaint says:

43 on amatomu, nice one bro :)

  8. Chris M says:

Netvibes reminds me too much of varsity!

So many people are digging songbird, it’s interesting. Blip is very much what I see as a homely office, definitely good for those late nighters, almost encouraging to work!

43.. ye, but it will move back up to around 50/60ish.

  9. retrosaint says:

now that u mention it kinda reminds me of varsity too… eeek

yeah songbird is well rounded, wooden floors give it a nice cosy feel and the facebrick wall adds that little bit of industrial – which i like.

I’m seeing the common trend of plants, so this weekend I am going to head out and buy myself a plant for work and then get a fish tank for the desk in the new year I reckon.

Spice the office up and the motivation follows!

  11. retrosaint says:

yeah thats a good idea.. !

mine is pretty much a empty office with a desk..

lets come back next year Jan and give updates on our office mods.

  12. Chris M says:

Ye mate, was talking to someone earlier who studied interior design and feng shei – he was saying that by introducing plants, fish, etc. into an office space, ones motivation would be pushed subconsciously. It totally makes sense though.

So ye, I now must motivate myself to get motivation to get a plant which will motivate me more than I am motivated now :)

  13. take some pics of yeigo noob!

  14. Chris M says:

Hehe, already in the works. There will be a follow up article on local internet companies, and Yeigo is on the list already :)

    nooooooob!

I am really into that open plan style/cozy home vibe of Song-bird and the wood effect just sets that whole look off well. Blip.tv also isn’t to bad gives the look of an art studio which could be a awesome office for web designers or graphic designers.

  16. esvl says:

This is great. It would be interesting to see where most South African bloggers blog from.

  17. Chris M says:

Blair – ye, I’m an open plan fan too, nice and cozy for sure! I do get the point that it makes it harder to work, but people should have self discipline. Blip.tv is pretty cool, I agree.

esvl – Ye, I was thinking about creating an office space type local website for bloggers to upload images, but atm I don’t have the time, hopefully someone else will venture into it!

  18. Arné says:

Think I need to speak to the big boss… ;-)

  19. Chris M says:

Arne – hehe, do it, it’s good exposure!

  20. Arné says:

done – sent to them …. no response for 48 hours :-/

  21. Chris M says:

Arne.. I got hold of the company camera and am taking some photos, waiting to get some really good ones, before submitting. It’s such excellent exposure :)

Hope you hear from them soon!
