Getsmarter is a new learning platform that makes part-time University short courses available to anyone in South Africa via a combination of internet-based distance learning and face-to-face contact sessions.
We work together with South Africa’s top universities to bring first-class education to anyone who is willing to learn. The internet-based delivery model helps bring down the cost of this education, as well as provide for flexible study timetables that enables even the busiest of people to continue learning while they work.
Getsmarter currently offers the following courses:
- Certificate in Wine Evaluation
- Certificate in Property Management
- Certificate in Property Sales
- Certificate in Garagiste Wine Making
- Certificate in Business English Writing
Naturally, the Wine Evaluation caught my eye the most, but upon reading more and seeing the other courses available, it’s clear that Getsmarter are targeting worthwhile courses. I often look at the courses offered by Universities and think to myself that most of the courses really don’t teach people life skills. With the courses at Getsmater, it’s clear that these courses will teach you proper skills, which you will be able to initiate immediately in industry!

The fact that Sam Paddock is the Managing Director of the company makes me feel very intrigued to take a course – Sam was a friend from High School as well as a natural leader, I feel that anything he attempts would be worth looking into!
Head on over to Getsmarter and take a read :)

I enquired about your courses and I did get a reply. My daughter is wanting to know more about wine and is looking for something during July, Aug and September. What have you available.

Hi, I’m looking to learn more about wine – preferably as much as I can…
Don’t have a lot of time though so what is your shortest course and what does it consist is.
I need to do this before end of Feb.
Hi Nina, Sam often pops in and sheds light, so let’s hope he comes here and assists you..
HI Nina,
Your best bet is to look at the courses offered by the Cape Wine Academy. They offer short courses that will allow you to complete the program by the end of February.
Thanks a million for popping in again Sam :)
