Buy and Sell COZA domain names

With all the .com domains names being parked these days, South Africans are starting to realise the potential of .co.za domain names. I have a number of friends in the industry who work on the web and run hosting companies and they report to me that thousands of .co.za domains are starting to get registered every day! With a .co.za domain only costing R50.00, it’s very easy for someone to grab a huge collection of domains.

Sell Domains

Sell Domains is a website with the aim to allow people to buy and sell .co.za domain names. The website also caters for other domains, but the primary function is .co.za domains. The website allows users to create an account, list their domains for sale or search for domains to purchase. Functionality allows buyers to easily contact sellers to make an offer. Domains may be listed in categories and specific price ranges applied.

Sell Domains

If you’re a domain seller or interested in purchasing some good .co.za domains, then Sell Domains is the place to look. It’s the first of its kind in South Africa and definitely a good initiative, which deserves some support. The site is in its beta stage, so expect a little problem here and there.

  5. Marc says:

    Hey Chris,
This is a GREAT site :)

I will definitely be using this as I have quite a few domains that are collecting dust and could be sold for some extra pocket money ;)

  6. esvl says:

That’s great. I like the site. I have about 50 domains. I will list some of them later.

Chris, please don’t take this as criticism, because it really isn’t, but I am really curious.

Why do you write about all of your projects in the third person, as if you are not involved in them. You do it with Yeigo (which is awesome btw), you did it with your post about facebook.co.za (which you own), and now with selldomains (another good idea). Is there a specific strategy behind this – or would you rather hide your involvement in these projects? In which case you should probably change your whois info at Uniforum.

You are building some good things – I reckon you should stand up and say you did them. It will help build your personal brand.

I’m definitely excited to see what will come out of selldomains.co.za – Prob won’t see to many sales happening at first , but i believe as South Africa’s internet market grows we will definitely start to see some respect for the .co.za and hopefully see some international people buying in.

    Nice work Mills.

Marc – Thanks mate, I really appreciate all the help that you have given and all the beta testing!

esvl – Awesome mate, I can’t wait to see what you have to offer!

Jaxon – Interesting question indeed and I’m sort of sitting here and wondering a little as to why I choose to do that. I know that in the past I’ve talked in first person about my projects. I tell you one reason – Half of my traffic is International traffic, and when they arrive at a .co.za they normally bounce off unless they see something interesting, now if I say it’s my project, they will assume it’s a South African initiative and most probably ignore it. I know this, because I’ve run polls and collected some decent feedback from International users. I know this doesn’t apply so much to this post specifically, but to others it does. As for Yeigo, I was under the strict requirements to not associate it as a South African movement, as our primary focus was the International market. As far as Sell Domains goes – I was hoping for it to appear as a proper review of a third party web application and not just something I put together..

Does any of that make sense Jaxon?

Retrosaint – It’s a work in progress, which I think will take some time to get going, I agree with you. I look very forward to seeing what happens once it reaches several hundred domain listings. Hopefully it’ll get a few back links and move up in the SERPs too :)

Thanks for all the comments friends!

  10. esvl says:

Hey I just got another 9 domains .co.za to sell. I will list it over the weekend or on monday.

  11. Chris M says:

esvl – fantastic! Spread the word mate, after all, the more people who know, the more the chances of selling the domains :)

  12. Phillip says:

Valid point Chris, I will also list mine this weekend. Ever thought of using the same platform to TRADE domains.

I may have cars-today.co.za but don’t like cars and you might have bigblackasses.co.za which I may be interested in! :) ROFL

  13. Chris M says:

Haha, trading domains is something I thought about, but it’s a tricky one to setup as COZA requires Update application to be sent, etc..

  14. Jaxon Rice says:

Hey Chris, yeah it makes sense, especially on the Yeigo thing (I am a paying user of it by the way).MY only feeling is that by writing a third party review of something you built you are being disingenious and doing yourself a disfavour, but it comes down to personal preference.

Anyway, congrast on selldomains – hope it grows into a big site – going to be interesting to see just how much .co.zas are actually worth :).

  15. Chris M says:

I’m glad you enjoy Yeigo Jaxon and I’m happy what I said makes some sense.

Totally, I mean ye, I could ride the idea off my own name and ask for praise, but honestly, I’m tired of the South African bloggisphere riding off names in the quest to be the coolest blogger, etc. It’s something I’ve started to feel really passionate about! I continually read about bloggers busting out their names across the web and it’s nonsense in my opinion. But that’s just my feeling :)

I can’t wait too see how domaining evolves in South Africa!

Thanks for all the opinions Jaxon :)

  16. Graham says:

Nice to see, I have been collecting co.za domains for some time now and can’t wait for a bigger listing. I am always looking and buying.

  17. esvl says:

I have more than 60 .co.za domain I would like to sell but when signing up I have to use my name which I never do online. Or rarely do.

I have some other great ones I wanna sell though. How does the payment work once you sell a blog?

I have recently sold a .co.za for R8000 and they never knew my name or I knew their name, Can I sign up with a business name of my company instead of my name?

  18. Chris M says:

Graham – thanks for the kind words. I hope to see many new domains listed :)

esvl – A business name or company name is perfectly fine. I approve all applications, so will be sure to verify yours mate!

  19. Phillip says:

Lol dude, actually esvl is a dame – not a mate…

    ROFLMAO

  20. Chris M says:

    LOL!!!

  21. retrosaint says:

    mwuhaha.. *and the plot thickens*

  22. Phillip says:

Now I am more confused than Microsoft in a secure environment…

  25. Chris M says:

Aaah.. people getting connected via iMod! I like it, I like it a lot!

  26. Alfredo says:

What is your favorite registrar for co.za domains for foreigners?

  27. Chris M says:

I just use http://co.za – Doesn’t matter where you are located afaik..

  28. kimberley says:

Thanks for adding this info, will check out the site and add my sites to sell.

Got something to say? Go for it!
