I started blogging a few years before 2000 and never realised that it would turn into such a big thing. I coded up my own version of WordPress, which allowed me to quickly and easily post and manage articles (I sometimes wish I worked on it more and had white labeled it). As the years went by and better systems appeared, I naturally moved along with the trends and now I can say that I am happily running on WordPress.
Since I moved to WordPress at the beginning of 2007 I have written a number of articles, which have created some interesting discussions. This is my 670th article that I’ve written since I moved to WordPress and these articles have seen close on 4000 comments, which is 6 comments per article – for those of you who blog often, you’ll know that 6 comments per article is rather impressive. Obviously some articles receive many comments and some none, but it’s an average after all.
Two topics worth mentioning are:
- There’s an massive following on my PayPal experience
- The New Law, which prohibits teens from being physically intimate in public has been some heated discussions.
Another topic, which has started to get really heated:
Statistics wise:
- Jan 2008 – 17738 unique visits with 479331 page views
- Feb 2008 – 22384 unique visits with 525198 page views
- Mar 2008 – 12243 unique visits with 229331 page views already!
iMod receives an average of 1500 uniques each day, which is massive (At least I think so) for a random personal blog!
Incomes (Since 2007):
- iMod has generated over $5000 in Adsense & TrafficSynergy payouts (look here & here)
- iMod has resulted in over R85,000 worth of business
- iMod has generated over R5000 in paid for advert placements
^ What a mission it was to calculate these :/
All in all, my blog has not only been a playground and a communications device, it has been a PR and business tool on so many levels.
There are so many parties that I would like to thank, but making a list is just going to take me too long, but one person who is basically the inspiration behind my whole blogging journey is Damien at coda.co.za – I stumbled across Damien’s website either before I was blogging or while I was very new to blogging and after following his blogging movements and business trends, I saw the potential and pulled my act together ~ So if there’s one person I’d like to give a big than-you to, it would be Damien ~ Thanks for inspiring me!
Why have I written this?
Well, with the 2008 SA Blog Awards currently open for voting, I felt I would give everyone a nice review of my space on the net. If you have not voted yet, please do so. For more information or to vote for iMod, simply click here!

Very good for you and all the best and may this grow to even bigger heights. I only recently stumbled upon your blog. It is the only one I participate in. Maybe too much. I am not much of a techie, but do enjoy most of your posts. Keep up the good work. It keeps me busy here in the strange lands accross the oceans. I miss SA less when I am here at IMod.
Best wishes for the awards and keep up the good word. Awards are nice but the proof is always in the “pudding”.
Thanks Rustig, I really appreciate your kind words! I’m glad you find a use for my blog, oh and there’s no suck thing as participating too much! ;)
I’m sure it must be hard being away from SA, perhaps drop me a line about what you’d like to read on iMod and I will try dig up some good information for you and blog it..
Thanks for the wishes, I’m holding thumbs! Indeed, the proof is always in the pudding ;)
Hey – I have been following your blog\work for a while now, and I can understand the success. I am glad for you – you got my vote, and good luck with the awards.
Thanks Dimitrio, I really appreciate your kind words, it means so much to me to hear great comments from you and Rustig! It makes my blogging experience just that much more exciting and drives me to work even harder at it!
Hope to see your blog evolving more and more as well mate :)
Well done son!!!
Winning the award would make a lovely feather in your cap!!!
Thanks mate, it’s certainly been a really fun journey! Ye, winning a category, best SA personal blog specifically, would really be one of the best things that could happen to me :)
