Coldplay offers free download for new song – Violet Hill

Thanks to a blog post by Riply, Coldplay has released a new song, which they have put online for free. Yup, you can download the song for free by clicking here. You’ll have to enter in a few details (clever clever) and you’ll then receive an email with an encoded URL to download the song. The song is really great, has a somewhat slowed down U2 feel to it if you ask me!

Since the Coldplay pulled me out of a rather concerning situation, I have always been a fan and this free release has kept them right up in my favourite bands list!

Here are some of the lyrics:

Was a long and dark December
From the rooftops i remember
There was snow
White snow

Clearly i remember
From the windows they were watching
While we froze down below

When the future’s architectured
By a carnival of idiots on show
You’d better lie low

If you love me
Won’t you let me know?

Download the tune and let me know what you think of it please!

Awesome song! Can’t wait till the album. They’re my favourite band of all time.

  2. Chris M says:

Agreed, I’ve played it a number of times today, lovely and relaxing. Another song which I’m enjoying at the moment is Foo Fighters – Home :)

  3. Rox says:

Wow, I didn’t realise other Chris had such clout – awesome!

I like Coldplay, but Chris Martin must do more stuff with Jigga and the likes, it’s way cooler. I’m not going to risk my cap at this point, but will download another time.

  4. Chris M says:

Are you mad, it’s only a few megs big and it’s a darn good zen tune, it’s worth downloading and will hardly touch your cap – just read 1 less blog and watch 1 less youtube and you’ll equal out bandwidth wise :)

  5. Rox says:

Ok ok, I listened to the song. It’s good, kinda vaguely reminds me of old Genesis for some reason.

I still say he needs to go more street and do more work with Jay-z. ;-)

  6. Chris M says:

Haha, imagine that combo! Maybe he should get with 50Cent and revive 50′s tunes a bit..

  7. Rox says:

Beach Chair is Jigga and Chris Martin, and that rocks bigtime.

Fiddy… hmm, not too sure. I think maybe Mos Def, Kanye, Talib Kwali, even Snoop. Trousersnake possibly, but their voices may clash, haha. Who else… Diddy maybe, DMX, hell even X to the Z! Imagine how cool Coldplay would get then, sjoe. LOL

  8. I agree but the artists, but it seems like Fiddy needs all the help he can get from what I’ve read. All the other artists have carried on for years and years and it appears as if he’s panning out somewhat..

  9. Rox says:

That’s because he doesn’t really have any talent, whereas the other artists do. Take Mos Def for example – he’s not as mainstream as 50 cent, but he’s been around far longer, and is waaaay more talented and progressive than Fiddy.

  10. Chris M says:

    Morning Rox :)

I wouldn’t say that he doesn’t have any talent, I think that’s a bit of an unfair statement and based on the number of people attending his concert, there has to be some talent to have such a following? Mos Def is very talented, and I agree, he’s not nearly as commercial, but he’s been around for years and years producing some really rolling hip hop beats.

  11. Rox says:

Comparatively speaking his talent is minimal compared to some of the granddaddies oh hip hop. But, at least he isn’t a retard rapper like some of the new breed these days. I know he has a massive fan base, and I have a few of his tracks on my iPod, but serious talent lasts for years.

  12. Dave says:

Fantastic bloody awesome song. I will be purchasing the album.
It has a very catchy tune.

  13. Chris M says:

I’m hearing the song more and more on the radio and it’s a lovely style that Coldplay have decided to go with, it’s a lot more vibey and up tempo!

  14. lee mazaris says:

f……………g awesome song!!!!!!! i love it, raunchy, raw, freaking amazing….different to their normal stuff

  15. Chris M says:

It’s a very different style to the norm, there’s no doubt about that. Fantastic change, I need to make a point of getting their latest album!

Got something to say? Go for it!
