Support South Africa and vote against “Za Sucks”!

I just read an interesting topic on Muti about a blog on blogger.com, which is all about how South Africa sucks. This blog is going against the blogger.com terms of service (While Blogger values and safeguards political and social commentary, material that promotes hatred toward groups based on race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, or sexual orientation/gender identity is not allowed on Blogger. ) and should be flagged and removed.

You can help by visiting the blog, clicking the ‘flag blog’ link and voting!

flag-za-sucks-blog

With enough of us flagging the blog, we’ll hopefully see blogger.com remove the blog from their system, as it should be!

For a brighter look at South Africa, check out SA ROCKS.

I disagree and am not afraid to say so. Yes they are morons, idiots, racists and fools. But the last thing you want to do is turn them into martyrs.

  2. esvl says:

Dude, i might as well click on the google ad and report you because its next to porn on some of your posts (i wont really, just using a example) Because you are in fact breaking a license from the same people (Google) . Freedom of speech still exists in South Africa and should be protected. Even though we might not always agree with what people say.

  3. SaulK says:

Chris, I think what you’re doing here is wrong. If people want to give their opinion then so be it. I think the fact of the matter is that these people might be idiots but let them be that way. SARocks is so naive and that’s fine so why not let South African’s have the opposite end of the spectrum?

  4. I’m against the SA sucks blog. They are a vocal and vindicative bloggers who threaten other SA bloggers, including myself.

These people deserve not only to be shut down but to face justice.

FaceBook profiles of at least one of their authors has been shut down. She harassed me on FaceBook and all over the web too.

They get a huge amount of visitors and they probably represent the views of a lot of white South Africans, which is damned sad!

  5. I agree with Richard that ZA sucks is not doing South Africa any good.

It also seems to me too that they’re going against blogger.com’s policy through racial discrimination.

    You’ve got my vote.

  6. esvl says:

Sure Francois Viljoen but we cant just go around looking for what people do wrong in life. Like i said, Imod has Casino ads with google ads which obviously against google’s TOC. You have a problem with Zahell breaking the TOC but you agree with Chris to flag their site but he is clearly breaking the same rules?

Face it you just have something personal against them, that is why you want to flag it down.

I have no issue with ChrisM i just dont agree with this post.

  7. Chris M says:

@Guy – We spoke on twitter and one of the last comments was that they are indeed going against terms of service..

@SaulK – I’m not forcing anyone to do it, but have you read some of the content on the website? They are breaking terms of service mate..

@Richard – Thank you for coming on and sharing some of your experiences, it’s about time people don’t make snap decisions after quickly skimming over a blog. It’s clear that their idea is to pass bad words on South Africa.

@Francois – Glad to hear that you take our side in this discussion, we need more people with us!

@esvl – Is that against terms of service? Sheesh, I honestly wasn’t aware of that!!! I best do my research a little better, somehow missed that one out :( It wasn’t about looking for what people do wrong in life, it was about taking offense with some of the things they’ve written on the blog, did you have a good read?

  8. @esvl

Believe me I’ve got better things to do than go looking for people who do wrong.

But if I happen to find someone getting raped next to the side of the street I’ll try to do something about it.

If I see my country getting raped and all it takes is a click or two to stop that, hell, I’m all for it.

If Chris is going against Google’s TOC, I suppose he should get in-line or perhaps someone can write a post to see if we can have him banned from Google. ;)

    @Chris

May I suggest you remove that online gambling crap from your website – it’s not doing a lot of good either. ;)

  9. Chris M says:

The advert will be removed the minute I have an FTP program installed. I just got a new computer and need to set everything up, so if someone is planning on writing a post, please give me a couple more minutes :)

  10. esvl says:

Yeah its in there somewhere. They are really full of crap sometimes.

Sorry I did not mean to get every one’s attention to it.

I guess if you are offended with the blog flag it because you are offended but not because they break the TOS.

    Dont you agree?

  11. Chris M says:

I guess it does lean towards a matter of opinion, but at the end of the day, they do write offensive things, which usually I wouldn’t say too much against, as I write a very open minded blog, but the things I read did offend me and others, so I’m acting against it..

  12. HoTsTePPa says:

I read the blog this morning and sat there in shock for a few minutes. I was completely unaware of the ongoing racism still so prevalent. It’s so sad!

I thought about getting upset, but I just don’t see the point. Having their blog stopped on blogger will only result in them opening a new one. As it is, only they are benefiting from the controversy.

Freedom of speech is all well and good, but when its racist, its no longer a freedom to enjoy!

  13. esvl says:

But there are other offensive things online as well, isnt it a case that if you dont like it you just dont visit it?

I feel zahell.blogpost.com has the right to their freedom of speech.

But at the end of the day I guess this is your blog, and these things i make are only comments and make no difference.

  14. Chris M says:

@HoTsTePPa – They have some terrible content! I don’t quite agree with you in saying that they are benefiting from all the talk, I reckon all the talk will get enough people to flag to blog and hopefully it’ll be removed. If not, then you are right and it’s sad to think that what is meant to be a good cause will indeed fuel something so negative.

@esvl – There are many terrible things online, but too many to control, so when one comes along and we have the ability to stop it, shouldn’t we? What are your comments on their racist remarks, should that be allowed?

  15. esvl says:

I dont support racism BUT I like to see facts even if they are negative. Look at the facts, ignore the personal remarks.

  16. Chris M says:

I hear what you’re saying esvl, it’s a valid point.

  17. red says:

I keep saying this: fredom of speech doesn’t, and shouldn’t, apply to hatespeech or incitements to violence.

There’s a HRC complaint form on my blog somewhere. I think under “5 things I learned about SA Blogs this week”. I posted it after having a similiar interchange with SA Sucks. I’m glad other people can’t stomach it anymore either.

  18. Nic says:

Saul – In all of this you choose to label me naive? hahahaha. should I now be chastising you for speaking your mind too? As you are doing to chris? He has the right to speak his mind.

And let us not speak of being naive as we both know that 90% of the bloggers in this country don’t live in the real South Africa. Nor do those SA Sucks fools. They live in the suburb of their choice with the job of their choice in the house of their choice and yes (like anywhere else) bad things happen. And they happen more often here than many places.

but don’t go around willy nilly (hahaha) accusing me of being naive when you actually know nothing of me other than my blog that is positive.

Just saying! Nothing personal, im just exceptionally tired of people calling me naive because my world view is more pleasant than theirs and it makes me content with my life and able to deal with the harder parts of it when im positive about the country.

  19. @Red: The problem with complaining to the HRC is that we don’t know who these people are. They hide behind their anonymity and when challenged become very aggressive and vindictive.

They spread lies about me online, for instance, falsely claiming that they had beaten me up and inciting others to acts of violence against me. Plus they contacted at least one of my advertisers and made a lot of false complaints to them about me.

Another anonymous blogger, Trevor Marshall of 6000.co.za, did a similar thing. He made the mistake of giving one of my advertisers his real name.

These people are all rotten to the core. Their hobby is to cause as much trouble as possible. They are the kinds of bloggers that Patricia de Lille despises.

  20. Rox says:

Hate blogs like this should not be allowed the benefit of the ‘free speech’ escape clause.

Not only is the content disgusting and extremely (and even aggressively) racist, it attracts similar, like-minded borderline white supremacists, and adds to the already volatile atmosphere and resentment that is building up in our country. I also seriously doubt the truth in many of the posts.

Yes, we have issues; and yes, we are entitled to our own opinions… but obvious hate speech and content that incites racism and anger like this have gone far beyond voicing their opinions.

I may be a ‘Liberal White Bitch’, but I just can’t stand back and pretend I don’t notice when I see crap like this polluting the internet.

I would do the same if I saw a blog that promoted animal cruelty, violence, or anything that goes against basic ethics.

In this case, not only does it go against ethics, it also goes against TOS, so they deserve to be booted off, and be IP banned from Blogger for good measure.

If they hate South Africa so much, they should just get out already.

  21. @Rox: If they hate South Africa so much, they should just get out already.

But not before we beat some sense into them. :)

  22. Rox says:

Hahaha, and give them a public flogging on all of our blogs… and ban their sorry racist asses. :-)

  23. Dante says:

Hmm, the same Richard Catto who advocated genocide of the Afrikaners is against the reporting of violent crime against Afrikaners. Quelle surprise.

I see you have a dedicated cadre of followers too, Richard. Perhaps they can hold the Afrikaners down while you “beat some sense into them.” All in the name of fighting hate and racism, right?

  24. @Dante: That’s the slander they trotted out against me, yes.

I do not advocate the genocide of Afrikaners. It suited their cause to defame me, though.

  25. Oh and btw, Dante writes for SA sucks:
    http://ave-imperator.blogspot.com/2008/08/blog-post_27.html

So yeah, more of the same trash from him.

  26. Rox says:

Don’t worry, Guy has offered to talk to the people behind SA Sucks and show them the error of their ways.

  27. cheapthrills says:

i ‘flagged’ ZaHell or whatever they call themselves.

In doing so, I was completely in line with Blogger/Google terms and conditions of use, whereby you can notify them of blogs you find objectionable, which is exactly what you said Chris.

So I agree with you in that respect.

However, and although it might sound like I’m defending them (which I’m not) they are entitled to their opinion. It’s when their opinion amounts to advocacy of hatred based on race or gender etc that constitutes incitement to cause harm, that their opinion is no longer protected as ‘free speech’.

the ‘incitement to cause harm’ is a very important element that has to be met, in order for it to no longer be ‘constitutionally-worthy’ speech.

can we say that ZA Sucks is incitement to do harm? I’m not so sure….

anyway, I wrote a post about this – from a constitutional law scholar’s perspective. thought you might be interested.

  30. Chris M says:

Please let’s be careful here. The topic and post was not meant to go into a huge discussion on racism, that’s a topic I do not discuss on this blog.

    Appreciate it.

  31. Uhuru Guru says:

Hello wankers (excluding esavl, Dante and Snowy)

I am the Uhuru Guru, but you may call me SIR.

Thank you for visiting our blog and flagging it. You’d be delighted to know that Blogger has removed it on no fewer than THREE occasions. The last time, we were up within 3 hours, and 24 hours later had in excess of 5 000 hits, every single one from relieved readers happy to have found us again. Close on 1.4 MILLION hits and were are going strong.

You self-righteous, judgmental jokers can flag away all you like, but the joke really is on you – like pissing down your pants – initially it feels all warm and comfy but the sensation lasts only a few seconds.

What truly stunned me as creator of this blog, was the incredible response every time we got zapped. I’ve received countless offers of free hosting and a rash of other gestures of goodwill, from all over the world. Best of all, being deleted makes us look like martyrs and it does amazing things for the solidarity not only between readers, but bloggers as well.

So please go a head and make my day – you clowns have absolutely NO idea how you’re helping our cause. The fact is that like me, there are many thousands of former liberals and disaffected former pro-SA folks who share my virulent hatred of this Marxist hell hole, and SA Sucks is their favourite blog.

What you morons fail to realise is unlike the self-deluding stereotype you cast us in, we are not the last remnants of yesterday – we are the first few of a brave new world. White racial awakening and White pride is fast gaining ground worldwide, whether you like it or not. So either you deal with it, or you can continue faking reality and denying the bitter truth.
