WordPress is getting more and more popular, which means the top bloggers need to stay ahead of the game by using the correct plugins to control their content. Yesterday, SmashingApps.com released a fantastic list of plugins, which every blogger should be using, but probably isn’t. I’ve finally got the chance to list the plugins myself, so without waiting any further, here’s the list:

  1. Thanks for featuring Tweet This!

I think Manageable looks interesting; would be even better if you could use it on the front-end (browsing your blog) too. I’ll see if I can implement that.

  2. Chris M says:

Sure thing Richard, it was my pleasure. Manageable is a great plugin, one which I’ve been using for quite some time already!

  3. Vincent says:

Whoa awesome list; thank you. Some I was aware of but the IM notification plugin and the ajax updater are great finds.

  4. Chris M says:

It’s my pleasure. That Ajax Editor thing is wicked, I installed it before this article came out, so I can vouch for it!

  5. Chris, i have been wanting to migrate to WordPress, but dont know where to start? it seems so complicated? any tips

  6. Chris M says:

Migrating from BlogSpot, from what I understand is not the easiest transission. Have you got experience with MySQL?

  7. Wogan May says:

WordPress has a native Blogger import function. Just go Manage -> Import, select Blogger from the list, and follow the prompts.

  8. Chris M says:

Apprently not that simple Wogan. A friend of mine tested it out a few times and upon importing into WordPress, it was duplicating posts in a big way..

  9. No i dont have exp. with MySQL and I surely dont wanna lose out on all my blogposts when going over to WordPress.
Do I also have to pay for hosting with wordpress?

  10. Chris M says:

WordPress.com will allow you to run a WordPress blog and they will handle the hosting for you. I’m not too sure about the porting of posts from your current blog to a WordPress.com hosted blog though..

  11. mm, I wonder if its worth it. Is it easy to start a wordpress blog, im asking cause they said I have to download wordpress, which i did, and it just looked like alot of folders of code to me, i dont know if im missing a big easy 1,2,3 step here.

  12. Chris M says:

If you’re not hosting it yourself, then you’ll have to use the WordPress.com system and not the downloaded version from WordPress.org

WordPress isn’t too tricky, but it will take you some time to get used to, in my opinion, but once you’ve grapsed it, you’ll love it.

    WordPress.com and take a read :)

Got something to say? Go for it!
