Sneaky backlinking trick

Backlinking, backlinking, backlinking, that’s the recipe to a well ranked website. Ok, obviously not the only ingredient, but it’s one of the most powerful ones if you’re not too clued up on SEO.

So for those of you who do a lot of backlinking, you’re always missioning around trying to find useful ways to trade links, acquire one way links and so on. Well, I’ve spotted a new little trick, which works really well.

Who’s used Google Notebook? I don’t see many hands in the air, why not, it’s brilliant! Google Notebook is like a journal type service, provided free of charge to all Google fans.

Simply log into your account and click through to Google Notebook and take a look at what you can do. Writing notes is fun and easy, the best part being the nofollow ability – Aaaaaaah you say ;)

Thanks for the tip Chris.. checking it out as I type! It would be great to get your advice on the whole backlinking thing given your blog is pretty much number always 1 or 2 on afrigator.. I’ve spoken to an SEO firm to increase the visibility of Wonkie cartoons and they suggested I need to buy backlinks. I’ve heard that this is generally not a good idea as google frowns upon it – what’s the deal?

I’ve spent a fair amount on marketing for the cartoons over the last month already and have quite a few email subscribers but am a bit stuck on the whole backlinks aspect. It’s a self-funded SouthPark-style venture and won’t be able to sustain spending on marketing for too much longer.. I will be getting some offline media coverage over the next 2 weeks but any suggestions as to how to spread the word or make it viral would be most appreciated!

Hey bud, thanks for the positive comment! I’m going to drop you an email shortly and we can chat, think we’ll be more productive like that..

Or it could just be that everyone else thinks that Wonkie is pretty well… rubbish.

Just a thought mind you :)

Why do you say that Craig?

  5. Pratish says:

Craig – I somehow doubt that. The Wonkie concept and the cartoons have picked up popularity pretty fast – my question to Chris related more to how to scale it faster than through purely organic means. Had a look at your codeunit blog btw.. the pigeon deposit cartoon was great! Lol.. send it to Tito!

Got something to say? Go for it!
