Just jokes! I’ve been waiting to publish that title for over a month, so bugger it, I’ve done it anyway :P
AAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!
I can’t belive it people, I’ve been watching insurance.co.za now for several weeks as the domain went down into suspension mode and nobody was doing anything about it. We’re just under a month away from when domains gets free’d up, I’m lank emo about this!
I think what annoys me the most is what they are doing absolutely nothing with the domain. meh.
This wasn’t the only one, onlinecasino.co.za was also looking good, but yup, it’s been paid for now..
Facebook.co.za was a great grab, but the insurance one would have been 100x more lucrative.
Miffed right now.

So there ARE other people sitting and waiting for the deletions to take place!
I’m waiting for a domain that’s going to make me MILLIONS! Ok, not really, maybe HUNDREDS!
Is Facebook.co.za making you any money?
@James – Please forgive me, but I cannot comment on the Facebook domain unfortunately.
Ye, I watch domains, not as much as I used to, but it’s a great way to bounce up that monthly revenue a little :)
What’s just as bad is when companies park domains and don’t use them.
I couldn’t even get a dot com space for Roxb, let alone Roxilla – and neither of these domains are in use.
I used to pick up lots of great expired domains when Uniform used to post the domains set to be suspended. They stopped posting that list because it was being “abused”.
Uniforum pisses me off with regards to expiring domains – its takes like 6 months for a domain to expire for you to then pick it up. The rest of the domain world works like the day it expires you can buy it.
Also, the fact you have 3 months to pay for a domain is also bad practise. Domain squatting is easy business when you have these rules in place.
@Rox – Agreed, being limited to only the .co.za domain because an International company/individual as parked a domain is incredibly annoying. I find that .co.za domains do not fly that well respected in the International space.
@Russell – That list of expired domains was awesome, it’s a great shame that they’ve decided to get rid of that :/ “Abused”, lol, hardly – I don’t buy that excuse they gave.
@JBagley – I agree, 6months is crazy, but if you put yourself on the flip side, it’s pretty cool :P
I picked up a great domain a few years ago – postmaster.co.za. I also inherited donpedro.co.za from a customer who used to host with me and then decided that they didn’t want it anymore. When the renewal came up and they declined to pay it, I paid it myself and have kept it ever since.
Both of those domains help my business in many ways. Mostly due to the amount of email still being sent to the domains that is valuable from a sales point of view.
However, the domain I’m most proud of owning is still adderleystreet.co.za. Got that one back in 2000.
postmaster.co.za, I used to own a domain like that! donpedro is pretty cool :)
Yar, adderleystreet is a really good one, well done on that!
Hey there guys, what site do you guys use, to check expired .co.za domains…???
Will really appreciate the help
Hi J-RED, I just use the COZA whois – http://co.za/whois.shtml – hope that helps!
I was watching Korn.co.za like this for months until it eventually expired. Finally registered it and now Korn (the band) is old news :(. The domain serves no purpose lol
Surely there are still thousands of fans and followers of the band, regardless of whether they went bang or not?
Then in that case, I hope those thousands of fans and followers will visit my site Headbangtoday.com! As I’ve linked Korn.co.za to it! At least it serves one good purpose for now.
I guess it will all depend if the .co.za domain ranks well in Google for terms relating to Korn ;)
i’m kinda into this
registered mobileinternet.co.za
fullmoon.co.za
some other good ones too
Hey @myphotographer, did you manage to solve things on the forums?
I think mobileinternet.co.za is a great domain, well done on getting that!
Hi guys, I’m thinking about getting into domaining. Where do you sell these premium domains that you’ve got? Where’s a good place to sell them?
Thanks
Thanks, mobileinternet is a good name, almost as good as sexpositions.co.za lol
;-)
Haha @myphotographer, who’s got that one? ;)
I bought another pure classic, almost as good as when I bought facebook.co.za, but I can’t share it unfortunately :D
@Chris: Are you worried that it will get taken off you?
Anyway, you know my position and it has not changed which is that co.za should be only for South Africans, iow it should be closed rather than open.
Unless you have a physical presence in South Africa and are a South African citizen, you should not be allowed to register a co.za, and for all those big international companies, they are not entitled to their SA domain name or an SA trademark unless they have a physical business in South Africa, employ a minimum of 1000 South African citizens and pay the full taxes due to the SA government.
Until they comply with those requirements, none of their trademarks, patents etc. hold any water in this country.
Nah, I just know that last time people found out about facebook.co.za and it was a slippery road to me losing the domain, so this time I’m going to rather keep quiet, you know what I mean?
I agree with your stance on the situation, domains like .jp. amongst others, follow this sort of methodology and it’s a good one!
Hi, thought I would share.
Lucky enough I googled before getting too stoked. ;-)
Hello,
We have seen your domain listed for sale. What are your expectations in
Euros or US dollars?
We are in real estate but invest in web project too. We have a solid
investing budget and our company is very interested in Internet names and
web sites.
If you have other domains for sale feel free to send your list.
Looking forward to do business with you.

Hello Ralph,
Can you accept 15000 USD?
Do you sell domain with a web site or just the name?
Domain without content is ok with me. Web site is not necessary.
Have you had your domain names evaluated in the past? I mean domain appraisals. Without valuation we cannot be sure in the sale price. It’s very important for me in terms of reselling too. But we must engage a valuation company with REAL manual service. So I will only accept valuations from independent sources I and my partners trust.
To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal companies.
Please check this blog with suggestions from other sellers and buyers:
http://webdiscuss.007sites.com/Archive-07-2009/81345627.htm
If, for example, the valuation comes higher you can adjust your asking price accordingly. It will be fair. I also hope you can give me 12% – 15% discount.
After you send me the valuation via email (usually it takes 1-2 days to obtain it) we’ll continue our negotiations.
What is your preferred payment method: Escrow.com, International wire transfer, PayPal.com or something else?
Hope we can come to an agreement fast.
Looking forward to your reply.
I’ve only just seen this post, no idea how I missed it!
I haven’t ever used an evaluator, are you still using one? Interesting, I own a lot of .co.za domains and I should really get them up for sale on other places other than http://www.selldomains.co.za
:)
