When Microsoft released Silverlight, the thought of them trying to compete with Macromedia (now Adobe) Flash seemed crazy, but as the software has evolved, we’re starting to see some interesting developments taking place.
Silverlight now handles smooth streaming fantastically and supports file types such as H.264, AAC and MPEG 4 codecs. One thing, which naturally, interests me the most is that they’re taking account of SEO – dynamic, multi-media content has always been a problem when it comes to SEO, but it would appear that Microsoft are on top of their game for this – Interesting though, you’d imagine this is somehow geared and planned in conjunction with Bing, don’t you think?
The other feature worth mentioning is the “out of browser” features – it’s quite detailed, so if you’re interested in reading about this, please click here.
The big companies are evolving, things are getting incredibly interesting, keep that finger on the pulse!
