Wine Review – Two Oceans Pinot Noir 2009

Michael just sent me his latest wine review, which covers a Pinot Noir by Two Oceans.

Tasted this wine in June for my upcoming book The People’s Guide.

Amazed at the wine itself and the incredible value – selling at around R28 a bottle.

No Pinot Noirs are available at that sort of price, so I am hoping it is
going to introduce a whole raft of new people to the wonders of Pinot Noir.

For me it is a wine of the heart. Lovely whiffs of blackcurrant and
cherries on the nose. Delicate mulberries, red cherries and oak spice
flavours in a medium weight mouthful.

Chill it as a glass on its own, but it will do well with red meats, chicken
and tuna.

Thanks Michael Olivier for doing another fantastic wine review!

The Two Oceans Pinot (2009) vintage does not agree with my palate. Strong red fruit overtones and over-oaked from freshly charred barrels hide any detail of the variety. I give it 70 points and a definite pass.
