Bing has just roled out their own map software, which will go head to head against Google Maps. This brilliant system has been built using Silverlight, which makes it very “dynamic”.
Thanks to Silverlight, Bing Maps offers 3 viewing dimensions:
“The most interesting, the 3D Streetside (street view), offers seamless stitched imagery for 100 major cities with more planned in the coming months. As for bird’s eye view, the mapping service has data on about 95% of the US. And finally, the aerial perspective is internationally available.” ~ RWW
One of the most exciting develops attached to Bing Maps is their collection of apps.

“Perhaps the app that will get the most attention will be Twitter Maps, which utilizes the new Twitter (Twitter) geolocation API to map out tweets onto Bing Maps. You can, for example, search for people discussing breakfast, parades or your favorite museum, and it will mpa out tweets about those things on the map.” ~ Mashable
Because I’m heading off to Botswana, I decided to take a peak at what Bing Maps would reflect compared to the Google Maps result:
Not too bad!
