Wedding Photographer

A friend of mine, Hannelie, recently had her website redone and we had a chat about featuring her right here on iMod. After some conversation we felt it would be a good idea, so she went off and wrote up a little something something, have a read:

I take great pride in the diversity of my work and believe that anticipation and experimentation is the key. Every couple wants their wedding photographs to be unique and stand out. I deliver a bespoke service. I bring my own ideas and inspiration to every shoot. I adore doing wedding photography, the romance and beauty associated with it is what makes me tick. It is much more than a job, it is a passion and a delight.

I fell in love with photography a few years ago and I had to do it. I couldn’t imagine anything making me happier than I was when I was taking pictures. My photographic style is free style and my journalistic storytelling background creates a record of the wedding day that couples will appreciate for many years to come, a legacy of sorts in which children and grandchildren will also find delight.

I love capturing the unusual happenings, and get the images that no one expected. Those moments are somehow richer and often present a more accurate picture of the day’s events than more traditional, posed photographs can.

When I am taking photos I am absorbed in the moment. My personal life is sometimes chaotic. Between running my own business and having two kids at school I think I sometimes create the impression of being disorganised. But when I shoot, I am totally in the moment. I can give my creative dreams wings. I find it truly inspiring.

Photography is all about passion. You have to stick with it obsessively. You have to strike a balance between hard work and not being too hard on your self. Of course, high standards are important, but being your own worst critic will lead to burn-out and stifling yourself. Doing it this way will make you reach a point where it isn’t fun anymore. You have to keep it fresh, follow your curiosity and not get complacent.
