Google Reader has gone real-time, MyScoop has gone real-time, WordPress is involved with it and it’s all revolving around an open protocol known as pubsubhubbub (click here to find out what pubsubhubbub is).
Now, joining the crew is AfriGator, which has just implemented pubsubhubbub and will be aggregating your posts instantly. Just remember, if you have your own installation of WordPress, you will need to install a plugin, which is called PuSHPress and is available here.

It’s really super to see South Africans jumping onto this and realising how important instant information is!

MyScoop was actually the first local aggregator to implement this. I agree really awesome that the local guys reacting fast to the technology.
BTW I also tested this with the PubSubHubbub plugin for WordPress too and working like a charm.
Ah, thanks for sharing about MyScoop, my bad for leaving them out! I didn’t state that AfriGator was first though ;)
I’ve been using the plugin for a while now and seems awesome thus far!
Yea, was just saying that they were the first ones to come to the party. Now wonder if Amatomu will follow, I see things is picking up again there, if they will keep up again we must see.
I have added MyScoop to the post now :)
I don’t know about Amatomu, they seem to be down _again_, I really worry about that aggregator :/
I did a article about the local blog aggregators a few days back and then got a mail from Amatomu. Seems like they are currently or in the process of moving over to new management.
I will blog about it as soon as I get more information.
I read the article when it was published :)
Yes, Amatomu are reshuffling things and it’s been taken over by a few key players, so we can expect changes shortly. I have an ear on the inside so I’ll have some fresh information quite soon I hope :)
Thanks Gerhard and thanks as well for the reference Chris.
Just a heads up, myScoop could be down for a few hours this weekend as I’m moving it to a more powerful server which will allow me to create more innovative features.. Will keep you posted.
Thanks again
Looking forward to it!
Thanks for covering this dude. It’s a great step in the right direction.
Oh BTW. I meant to tell you, your subscribe to comments thingy has never worked for me. Hopefully you can resolve it!
Of course bro, real-time movement of data is where the world is going, the introduction to pubsubhubbub is huge! Hmmm, tons of people use the subscribe to comments successfully, that’s really odd, I wonder if you didn’t do an unsubscribe to all at some point when you were getting annoyed? I’ll try investigate, not quite sure where to start though!
