Fly Fishing Competition on the long weekend

La Ferme trouting fishing Western Cape are holding a competition over the long weekend, that’s the 8th August for those of you who weren’t aware. If you haven’t been to La Ferme before, click here and take a look. Anyway, here are some details:

La Herme is hosting a fly fishing competition which is sponsored by Bells Extra Special Scotch Whiskey and The Fishing Specialist. There will be four lined dams to fish from and a number of great prices. It costs R200 to enter and to book your place, be sure to SMS 0825552043 with your name, details and that you want to enter. The cost includes coffee and rusks upon arrival, 1 boerewors roll for lunch, and some juice.

Here are the specifics:

• Registration: 07h00 – 08h00
• Start time: 08h00
• Lunch: 12h00 -13h00
• Prize giving:16h00

The rules are as follows:

• No Barbs permitted even on non-competition days
• Only live fish to be measured.
• All fish to be released immediately after being weighed.
• Injured fish will be charged at R60 per kg and be kept by fisherman.
• The weigh-master’s decision is final.
• Each angler is to be acquainted with and adhere to the rules of the competition and private land owners.
• Failure of the above will result in immediate disqualification.
• Fishing will be from shore, no kick boats or waders permitted.
• In the event of a tie, there will be a draw between the parties.
• Fish are measured with the mouth closed.
• No bait permitted.
• No milking of female fish eggs to chum water
• Strictly no foul hooking or stripping
• Please respect the property and privacy of the main dwelling and cottages.
• Do not litter and be careful of the irrigation pipes and equipment.
• Respect and be considerate of your fellow anglers.
