Star signs have always been something that interested me. I don’t really read into those little snippets in the paper, but there are plenty of other things on the topic that are worth reading about and wondering about.
The latest in this topic is that a new star sign has been has discovered. Ancient Babylonians had 13 constellations, but only wanted 12, so 1 was thrown out. This one was known as Ophuchicus, the snake holder.
According to the Minnesota Planetarium Society, this is actually what the star signs dates should be:
Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16.
Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11.
Pisces: March 11-April 18.
Aries: April 18-May 13.
Taurus: May 13-June 21.
Gemini: June 21-July 20.
Cancer: July 20-Aug. 10.
Leo: Aug. 10-Sept. 16.
Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30.
Libra: Oct. 30-Nov. 23.
Scorpio: Nov. 23-29.
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29-Dec. 17.

I’m not sure what the reality of this is, whether people will adapt, I guess the closest thing that might happen is that kids being born now will take it into account, but oldies like all of us, will keep things as is.

Unless you follow the sidereal astrological calender, which is a very ancient form of astrology and followed by mostly eastern cultures. The “new” sign Ophiucus isn’t new at all and has always been documented in sidereal astrology, but not in tropical astrology (the more popular, Western branch of astrology).

Ya that isnt a new discovery at all… The modern “astrology” was only popularised in the 19th century, as far as I can remember… It has been known to astronomers, since, well, forever, that there is a 13th star sign… It is also well known that since our definitions of the dates of the star signs were based on the ancient constellation maps, they are very out of place today, as your “real” star sign chart indicates… I guess some reporter just found out as well. If you get that Star Walk app for iPhone or Stellarium on your pc you will see ophiucus wedged in-between there

So my wife’s star sign born on the 24th December is now Ophuchicus and I am now a Taurus born on 5th June . What a load of concussion… Thank you very much I still prefer being a Gemini as I have all the Character of a Gemini and I can tell you also that my wife has all the traits for a Capricornian. if I may ask , what have you done with the star sign Saggitarus…. hey to all the people whoe r confused bout this new star sign, i am a sagitarius n always will b, apparently there is two types of zodiac, tropical n sidereal, because of the tropical zodiac ur star sign does not change, u keep the star sign u were born with, sidereal zodiac is constantly changing, hope that clears things up n puts peoples minds at rest x
