I love gardening and I take great pride in making my garden look inviting and peaceful. I spent a lot of time today planting some new plants in and around the current ones as well as cleaned up a bit and removed some weeds and such that had started invading.
Here are two quick pics I snapped:
Let me know what you think :)

Oh wow, it’s really come a long way & is looking great! Well done, you’ve inspired me to redo mine. Again. :P
Looks great Chris!
Really coming along nicely!
Thank you so much you guys! :-)
It really looks inviting sir!
Quick question: I came to the conclusion that gardening is really expensive and one needs to budget. Any ideas on budget gardening and how to keep it pretty?
Thanks mate!
I hear you loud and clear mate! I guess it all depends on the amount of space you have, what sunlight you get and what sort of style you’d like to achieve. Quite a few dependables unfortunately, but another tip I can give you is to look around at nursery’s – we have one called Starke Ayres here, it’s the best, but it’s also about 25% more expensive, in fact, there’s a small nursery at Kirstenbosch Gardens which is up to 50% less and all the plants are indigenous, so they are hardly to our climate. There’s also the option of taking cuttings from places and growing them yourself, a plant/tree like Frangipani (https://www.google.co.za/#hl=en&sugexp=frgbld&gs_nf=1&cp=6&gs_id=k&xhr=t&q=frangipani&pf=p&output=search&sclient=psy-ab&oq=frangi&aq=0&aqi=g4&aql=&gs_sm=&gs_upl=&gs_l=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=d1bfe8014a9f737c&biw=1437&bih=731), you can cut off a stalk, leave it to dry for a couple days (not completely dry), then stick it in the ground and 9/10 times it’ll grow from there just fine.. rinse and repeat, it’s got beautiful little flowers, it’s very hardly and if left to grow will cover a lot of ground.
Another trick is to use rocks, you can find rocks everywhere (and bark for that matter) to do ground cover and/or create a bit of a rock garden. I would do what I did though, start in one area, plant a few things and make sure they’re going to survive before going full out and doing an entire garden, bit by bit, you’ll also find that you’ll learn things as you go and never be afraid to ask someone at a nursery for advise on a plant, it’s like marine fish.. damn expensive, but if you get help, they don’t die and it’s not too bad.
Hope that helps pal!
