Over the past few months I’ve been digging deeper and deeper into the world of social media, but more specifically, campaign running within. So many companies have run incredible campaigns and I’ve spotted a new potential that’s ready and waiting for someone who’s got the budget.
Facebook’s Timeline allows us to include a 850 by 315 cover photograph that appears at the top of your profile, up until now everyone’s merely been putting pictures of themselves or incredible sunsets, or perhaps even something creative, but I’m yet to see an agency run a successful campaign where they pay influential individuals to change their cover photographs to something that lines inside a social media campaign. Honestly, the options are endless and the potential to do something where there’s a QR code or a secret number, or perhaps even an Easter egg for an Easter campaign that forms a clue to solving a mystery, is ripe and ready.
I’m taking part in a BlackBerry Touch Awesomeness campaign and I branded up my cover photograph as follows:
You’ll have to follow the link to find out more ;)
So yeh, there’s an idea for a campaign that could really set off fire and get publicity purely for being the first.
Use it, don’t use it :)

Absolutely love it! Now that I think about it, the potential for this is quite big with brand pages also incorporating the time line structure. The opportunity to essentially mobilise a massive fan base to semi brand their page like yours is massive.
That’s it, let’s see who does it!
Yo guys – you know that putting any links or calls-to-action in cover photos is illegal, right?
Check it out – Facebook says any info that belongs on an About section is outlawed on covers: https://www.facebook.com/page_guidelines.php
tl;dr
I’m pretty sure if I want to put a HUGE picture of an Audi logo on my cover photo, Facebook’s not going to come after me ;)
SheBee’s right though – you’re not allowed to post CTA’s or URLs in your cover-pic. Feel free to post an Audi logo though :p
Yeh for sure, but there’s always a way to run a campaign in and around the rules, always!
