Facebook has been accused of charging for advert clicks that have been being done by bots (robots). A company called Limited Pressing published a long article on their Facebook Page stating that they would be leaving Facebook and focusing more on Twitter.
This announcement was made 6 hours ago, but what I find interesting is that Limited Pressing only has 864 likes on Facebook, hardly a large number that inspires confidence in the brand, but nevertheless, what if this is true and what if this abuse is happening more than we know! I have to say, I’ve run quite a few campaigns and see very little return in comparison to some adjacent Google AdWords campaigns.
Limited Pressing further stated, “While we were testing Facebook ads, we were also trying to get Facebook to let us change our name, because we’re not Limited Pressing anymore. We contacted them on many occasions about this. Finally, we got a call from someone at Facebook. They said they would allow us to change our name. NICE! But only if we agreed to spend $2000 or more in advertising a month.” – Hmmm.
I can’t help but think that this is a publicity stunt, but let’s not jump to conclusions. They’ve mustered up 3,179 followers on Twitter, I bet it will be closer to double that when you read this, and if it is, and if this is a publicity stunt, then kudos’ – just pray FB doesn’t come after you for defamation.
