I doubt there’s anyone who can’t relate to a situation at a restaurant when the bill comes and you have to calculate who owes what – it’s an absolute nightmare sometimes. The good news is that a new iPhone application has been launched that allows parties to split their restaurant bill, simply, and beautifully.
Say hello to Split Bill.
Here are some screenshots:

Really cool idea, no more losing track whilst writing on the bill, no more time-wasting discussions and no more miscalculations – If anything, it’ll save you a good few minutes and some stress every time you go out for food or drinks with your mates. The application also comes with a built in tip calculator.
I’m stoked to see South Africans launching awesome web and mobile apps, there’s Pashash, Serperture, Airborne Music and many others popping up all over the place, and what intrigues me most is that these apps are built by the younger less established folks in the market.

Cool idea, but from the looks of things it only split it equally? Doubt you can really get away from punching in or marking what you had to get an accurate split bill per person.
Hey Gerhard,
Thanks for your comment. We are working on version 1.1 which has a bit more functionality, including the ability to break it down per person (in detail), but because the idea is to keep the app as simple and clean as possible, we are making sure that it works without cluttering the app, breaking away from the minimalistic feel or creating unnecessary steps for users who merely want a even split.
Thanks,
Byron
How is this different from the Calculator on my phone?
I must concur, I seldom go out with a group of friends and completely split a bill, as I often pay for my fiance or for an additional bottle of bubbly that was ordered and so forth. The concept is still awesome and I think it’s an app that people will use provided the remember to, perhaps it needs some FourSquare integration, so when they check into a restaurant, 60 minutes later the app pops up saying, “Don’t forget to split your bill”.. how rad would that be ;)
The ability to get enough functionality into an application without crowding it is a huge challenge, so far so good though, Byron!
