Rocking the Daisies is taking place this year on Cloof Wine Estate on the weekend of the 9th of October and promises to be an incredibly exciting event. After last years amazing event, I can only how great it will be this time!
There’s an incredible lineup of artists and bands this year, ranging from Just Jinjer to Prime Circle to aKING to Black Hotels to Freshly Ground to Goldfish and more.

Getting There:
Directions from Cape Town Take N7 to Malmesbury. Following signs for Darling. Turn left off main road, after brief double-back, turn right at T-junction (onto R315). Cross one railway line and after about 10km you’ll cross a 2nd railway line. Immediately after this, on the left, is Darling Cellars. Turn left in front of Darling Cellars, following signs to Cloof along dirt road. Don’t forget, you can use their mobile site for easy directions on the way!

So this evening I was invited to a private performance by The Parlotones and Hands on Wine at the Cape Grace Hotel to celebrate the launch of their new wine Giant Mistake.
The wine was a 2008 red blend and to be honest, it was actually pretty darn good! I only had a small glass, but I saw the punch it gave on a lot of the other people there ;)
Giant Mistake will be available for purchase at Wool Worths towards the end of the month, so head on down and treat yourself.

On Saturday the 28th of November, Boulevard Blues in conjunction with Combustion Technology, will be presenting us with The Table Mountain Blues Summit – A yearly event which show cases the best of the best in the world of Blues in South Africa.
With artists/groups such as Boulevard Blues, Dan Patlansky, Albert Frost Trio, Rupert Mellor and The Thunderbirds, The Gerald Clark Band, The Dale Collins Band, Dave Ferguson and The Lonesharks and Los Desperados, it’s bound to be a fantastic event!
The event will be taking place at Bloemendal Wynhuis from 14h00 until midnight on the 28th of November. Tickets are on sale at Computicket for just R160.00 and I’m pretty sure the tickets will sell quickly, so hurry on over and book before it’s too late.

South Africans will have free access to national parks during national park week that starts next Monday, SANParks said.
It was intended to encourage people to take pride in and greater care of the country’s natural heritage, chief executive David Mabunda said in a statement.
“This concept was launched in 2006, to encourage South Africans to visit national parks, out of the realisation that the majority of this country’s citizens were not accessing parks.”
The week would be launched at the Kruger National Park’s Mopani camp.
The free access would not include any commercially-driven activities like guided tours.

In passing conversation I was told that Vanilla Ice was coming to South Africa – uhm, I so didn’t know he was still around? :D
Unfortunately he’ll only being playing in Pretoria at the SuperSport Park on 28 November, guess it’s better than him not coming at all. I’m really curious to know whether it’ll sell out quickly or whether it’ll be a battle to get rid of the tickets. My guess is that it’ll sell out quickly, not because people love his music, but just because it’s happening, which I think is the case for a fair number of concerts.
