The latest Milk Magazine is out!

I’m a big fan of Milk Magazine, it’s lovely to receive an edition once a month and have something interesting to read. It’s like subscribing to a magazine outlet, but it arrives in my email and works like a magazine, but on my screen – useful!

As you can see, this episide is packed with interesting information and believe me, there are some great pictures too :)

The new Ferrari Mansory!

Ferrari’s are such stunning cars! Living just down the road from Viglietti Motors means that I drive past almost every day and take a look at the stunning cars. Today, I received an email from a good mate of mine, with some pictures of the new Ferrari Mansory..

Bloggers win with bidorbuy and VW TenaCiti

It looks like bidorbuy are moving into the blogger space. I received an email earlier today stating that they are running a competition for bloggers, whereby the blogger would need to blog about a specific car and state the price of the car. The blogger who comes in most accurately wins R300.00 cash.

The link to the VW TenaCiti is here. So head on over, take a guess at the price, blog about it and send your link to: promotion@bidorbuy.co.za – it’s as simple as that!

Win VW Tena City

Honestly, I’m quite surprised that the prize is only R300.00 – seems quite low to me based on the size of bidorbuy, but perhaps it’s the actual person selling the car who came up with the idea and wants to increase exposure?

To help with the process, here are some other car estimates:

- 2008 VW Tena City 1.4l. Market price: R75,300; winning bid: R68,000.00
- 2008 Toyota Yaris. Market price: R100,300.00; winning bid: R88,200.00

So, here’s what I want you to do:

1. Write a post, guessing the cost of the TenaCiti
2. Link to the TenaCiti auction
3. Link back to this blog post
4. Send your blog post to promotion@bidorbuy.co.za

My guess is: R67,500.00

Good luck! Remember, the closing date is: 9am on Thursday 23 October 2008

Illegal to drive with fog lamps on!

A mate of mine pointed out an interesting fact today, after seeing me driving in my car the other day – It’s illegal to drive around with your fog lamps on, unless there’s a legitimate reason.

After viewing the National Road Traffic Regulations, under section 163, the following is stated:

(6) No person shall operate on a public road, a motor vehicle while any fog lamp fitted to such vehicle is lit, except in conditions of poor visibility caused by snow, fog, mist, dust or smoke.

Literally every single car I see on the roads these days, which has fog lamps, has them turned on. I would have thought that it’s a safety precaution, in terms of extra visibility, but clearly not.

Interesting to know, thanks Andrew for pointing this out!

Get off speeding fines – I got the book and read it!

At the beginning of the year, I wrote an article about a book, which helps you get off your speeding fines. A number of people read the article and commented saying that they felt it was a scam. Needless to say, I got my hands on the book and read it!

get-off-speeding-fines

I remember reading a comment on my blog many months ago, which stated that most of these initiatives are over looked due to all the people who abuse the system with work from home nonsense scams. After speaking to Dennis, an ex cop and author of the book, I knew it wasn’t a scam and took it upon myself to read it and report back!

The book is full of fantastic scenarios, with references to the law, pointing out flaws and problems, which you could use to get off your speeding fine. The illustrations in the book allude to its useful nature by showing you exactly what is being discussed. Furthermore, the book tells you how to act upon certain scenarios and how to prepare yourself for court. The book also points out certain things you should never say in court!

I’m not even going to go on about this book, there’s no need to, I got a copy, read it and honestly, it’s full of damn useful information and is most definitely not a scam and worth every cent!

The proof is in the pudding, I received a speeding fine in the heart of Cape Town CBD, after referring to the book, the fine was dropped from R800 to R200 based on the information I provided. That’s a R600 save, which is much more than the book costs, so I’ve saved money already and own a great source of information for the next time I have a problem with the traffic law!

If you’d like to order a copy, contact via-con@hotmail.com and talk to Dennis, he’ll sort you out!

Here are some videos, which will show you why you should NOT SPEED!

P.S. This is NOT a paid review.

Power up your car audio with a Griffin iTrip-Direct

The new iTrip follows in the tradition of Griffin’s iTrip line, with superior performance and innovative features that make the iTrip the most popular iPod FM transmitter in the world.

The large and easy to read backlit LCD screen makes setting its digital tuner easy and intuitive.

A convenient switch on the side of the iTrip makes it a breeze to select a broadcast frequency. But you won’t have to adjust the settings very often – iTrip conveniently remembers its most recent settings. Its compact, self-contained design makes controlling iTrip a snap – perfect for use in autos.

One of iTrip’s innovative new features (something not found on any other FM transmitter) is its selectable LX or DX modes of broadcasting, which allow you to adjust for the absolute best possible audio under real-world conditions. Even in large cities with lots of radio stations crowding the dial, iTrip’s DX Mode delivers a background noise level below that of a cassette tape adapter, allowing the music to punch through cleanly. The results are stunning.

VW decides to withdraw SEAT brand from South Africa

The Board of VW of SA, in conjunction with the Board of SEAT Spain, have taken the decision to withdraw the SEAT Brand from South Africa. This process will take place over the balance of 2008. The decision to withdraw SEAT from our market in South Africa was taken after much deliberation and in the interest of the Brand and our Company’s future planning.

The press release below will be distributed to all media this afternoon at 16h00.

Volkswagen of South Africa to cease new SEAT vehicle sales operations by the end of 2008

Volkswagen of South Africa, owners of the SEAT Franchise in South Africa, will start a process to cease the SEAT new vehicle sales operations in South Africa.

“Current and expected circumstances make the ongoing importation of a niche brand in the South African market non-viable,” explained Mike Glendinning, Director of Sales and Marketing, VW of SA.

“Volkswagen of South Africa will continue to provide comprehensive after sales support for the 2 600 SEAT models sold since launch in June 2006. SEAT customers are currently being informed that continued after sales service will be offered by a dedicated group of Volkswagen dealerships in South Africa. These dealerships currently service SEAT vehicles. All warranties, service plans and roadside assistance relevant to the SEAT Brand in South Africa will be honoured.”

“Of paramount importance to us is the continued after sales care of our existing SEAT customer base. We will offer all existing SEAT customers a preferential deal, on the purchase of a new Volkswagen,” committed Mr Glendinning.

The stunning Ford Focus RS is coming in 2009!

There’s this wicked new blog I stumbled across called RearView, which falls under the Charl Norman stable. Much like Car Blog, it’s another car focused blog. From what I can tell, it’s a lot neater and more to the point and whilst reading some articles, I came across a car which I almost drooled over!

As you all know, I drive the Fiesta ST and it’s brought me huge happiness, well, until I saw this one and now I have my eyes set!

ford focus rs 03

It’s due to launch in 2009, so there’s still a bit of a wait, but enough time to start saving big time! “The all-new Focus RS features a specially developed, turbocharged version of the Duratec 2.5-litre engine, based on Focus ST, but significantly revised to generate over 280PS and more than 400 Nm of torque, thus achieving an excellent power-to-weight ratio.”

ford focus rs 02

I love the similarity to the Fiesta ST, the main differences being the bumper kit, extended rear spoiler and the dual exhausts!

I WANT THIS RIDE!!

Not sure if I’m into this new BMW, but I can admit that it’s a click looking car, sort of makes me think of the Audi R8!
