Awesome QR Code campaign by Guinness

Guinness have launched an excellent marketing campaign that involves QR codes, which appear when their glasses are filled with the murky Irish beer. Grab a glass, fill it with Guinness and let the social experience start.

Once the QR code is visible, upon scanning it, it will tweet about your pint, update your Facebook stats, checks you in on FourSquare, allows you to download coupons, invites your friends to join and displays exclusive Guinness content.

Quite an aggressive campaign if you ask me! Here’s a picture:

The Steri Stumpie 1 Litre Launch Party

Oh wow, so much of awesomeness this morning when Steri Stumpie arrived at the office and handed me a VIP entry card to their discotheque where they unveiled the new 1 Litre boxes of Steri Stumpie goodness!

Oh man, I love marketing, especially when it goes down as elegantly as this!

So Santam have this advert, you’ve probably all seen it already:

Everyday Awesomeness – Beacon Easter eggs

Two of my favourite things about Easter are Beacon marshmallow Easter eggs and those very more-ish white hens’ eggs. Judging by the speed at which they fly off the shelves, many people feel the same way!

Happy days for the KZN fans-Superspars are running a special until the 8th April. The box of 48 marshmallow Easter eggs for R49.99 (R14 saving) and the pack of 6 white eggs for R22.99 (R5 saving).

I believe Makro in Springfield has been selling bumper boxes of 60 Beacon marshmallow eggs for R60.

Russian Standard Vodka!

Last week I sent out a tweet about receiving post cards from Russia, one on the Monday, one of the Tuesday and one on the Wednesday, which went on to say, “Looking forward to meeting you. From Russia, with love” – I was baffled and started guessing what it might be with the gents at work, as you can imagine, it was rather funny.

I arrived at work on Friday to find a bottle of Russian Standard Vodka and an awesome Russian hat, you can see these photographs here.

I gota tell you, the Vodka is surprisingly nice – I’ve had triple distilled, Absolut and a few other brands, but never have I had a Vodka that goes down really smoothly, and that was us drinking it neat!

I went on to look at their website and came across a cool collection of cocktail recipes that include this vodka and that’s exactly what I’m going to be doing this weekend. The recipes include The Berry End, Yellow Fever, The Fountain of Youth, Standardtini, Berryoska Strawberry & Blackberry and Vodka Tonic .. definitely a couple in there that I want to try! Oh yes, if anyone’s tried vodka with mustard, please let me know as I’m anxious that this might lead my down a dangerous road!
