If you’re into salsa you’ll more than likely heard of Bachata – This is a cool tune by Romeo Santas, featuring Usher (yes, Usher!). The acting is awful, but the song’s quite wicked.
Salsa class was fun
Last night I really wasn’t feeling motivated to be around a lot of people in a salsa class, but I managed to motivate myself to go and I’m glad I did as we did a move that I really enjoy.
It’s a cross body lead with a turn, the video below shows a similar move to what we learnt, we actually went a step further with lifting your hand over the ladies head and then completing the move, after the turn, with a final turn in dance hold. The video gives you an idea though:

Busy week so far!
After Sunday afternoon’s stress, Monday started on an exhausted note, but a meeting and some tight deadlines worked just as well as a few strong coffee’s, and before I knew it I was racing through the day and on my way home. Last night was busy for some reason, I arrived home and just had lists of things to get through. I was sitting outside on my Mac researching some new SEO tactics that I want to test – completely lost track of the time and it was passed 2am! Today was busy too, I’m fairly hands on with a new staff member that is going to take over quite a bit of the work I have been doing up until now so it’s important for me to put the hours in to ensure that he feels comfortable, motivated and most important, passionate.
I had another salsa class this evening, good grief it was hot, wow! We learnt a really easy move, which wasn’t the best, but it was great to be back again, moving to the salsa beats and meeting new people. If you missed it, I’ve gone back to salsa, you can read about that here.
Looks like the weather’s not really going to change much, so prepare yourself for many more hot days:
Oh, and I have to end on this, dare I say that what Matt says below is something I’ve been preaching for years and years – ranking means nothing compared to converting! Sure, ranking highly normally results in more traffic (depending on the search term’s estimate traffic of course), but there’s no point getting thousands of hits to a site if they’re not converting. Back to salsa
So last night whilst I was at the Fire & Ice Hotel with a mate, he persuaded me to come back to salsa and that’s exactly what I did. It’s been well over 6 months since I took a salsa class and I’d forgotten how much fun it was – I had the time of my life this evening and am pumped up! No better feeling than mastering a move to the awesome salsa beats with a group of people who are just as eager.
I was lucky, my favourite type of moves are cuban moves and this evening we learnt a 4 step cuban move so I was in heaven, that music speaks to me and I find myself not counting or thinking about anything, just feeling the music and connecting with my partner – bliss.
So yeh, this is another thing I should add to my 2012 goals list – Attend salsa classes every Tuesday evening!

Insane dubstep dancing
Dubstep has gained popularity over the past year, I’ve heard more and more of it on the radio and the minute a genre starts hitting commercial radio stations, you know it’s getting popular.
Anyway, something that I really enjoy is locking and popping, so when I came across this crew who break it down to some insane dubstep, I smiled inside! What better than some insanely fast locking? Not much!

Dance lessons in Cape Town

Winter All White Salsa Party
Winter’s here and there’s no better time for a good salsa party when it’s nice and cool! If you’ve salsa’d before, you’ll know what I mean! Anyway, quite a cool topic for this party, it’s an all white dress code, let’s hope it’s not pouring down outside before people enter the club, or mind you, perhaps we should hope ;)

Pole Dancing Lessons – R199 for 1 month
CitySlicker, a group buying website has a special running for the next 24 or so hours where you can get a month of pole dancing lessons for just R199. I’ve got a friend who is an instructor, so I know that this price is really great, and I also know that pole dancing is a brilliant workout and so much more fun that going to the gym!
The studio is in Loop Street, Cape Town, so it’s nice and accessible. The special is valid from 5 May 2011 to 11 August 2011. The special includes one introductory class (value R150, every Wednesday 17:00 and Saturday 11:30) PLUS pole dancing lessons twice a week for one complete month (value R470) for one new student.
