Synthasite calls designers

I have blogged about SynthaSite before, and raved on about what an incredible service it is, and once again I have some new news regarding SynthaSite (Well, it’s a few days late, I just havn’t had the time to blog about it).

The SynthaSite Beta is just around the corner, and in an effort to offer our users some of the most unique and custom designed templates, we’ve decided that we want YOU to share in our success as a company, by giving you the opportunity to earn shares in our business. We’ve allocated up to 1,000,000 shares in SynthaSite to our community, and over the course of the next few months and years, we will be running regular programs that will offer you the opportunity to become a virtual shareholder in our business. read more..

I, personally, feel that if anyone is into graphics and more accurately, template design, this is something to consider. Putting a template together it not hard, there is even an example template which is downloadable – so download a template, and adapt your css and graphics, easy!

SynthaSite, founded by Vinny Lingham, is going to be massive, take my word for this! Getting shares in such a company is a darn good idea, and an investment you will reap the benefits from in the future!

2.0 Master’s Degree

So I found an interesting little test online, it’s all about web 2.0, and I managed to score really well in it. Give it a shot, perhaps you’re a guru too ;)

Clicky click click

Clicky web analytics
gives bloggers and smaller web sites a more personal understanding of their visitors. Many analyzers give good summaries, and Clicky is no different – but the similarities stop there. Clicky stands out with its refreshingly clean and simple interface, innovative features like Spy and RSS feeds, and an unrivaled per visitor level of detail. You also get real time stats, outbound link tracking, download tracking, IP tagging, custom data tracking, and much more.

I have signed up for the service, and am very happy to see some interesting results already! After just 25 minutes of being a member, I can already see these features showing up:

  • Visitors (time, country, actions performed, browser)
  • Actions (Where did the user move around the site)
  • Content (Which posts where most popular)
  • Links (Incoming, outgoing & top referers)
  • Searches (Keywords, Engines, etc.)

So all in all, this is a good service. The fact that the interface is all Web 2.0′ey makes it even more worthwhile, it’s like getting two cherries on top.

Parking & Speeding Tickets

The most awful feeling in the world is arriving at your parking bay, and not finding your car there, it’s happened to me before, and it’s a serious “Dude, where’s your car?” sort of situation! Arriving at your car and finding that dreaded pink slip is another awful one, it’s like you’ve seriously lost something or committed a serious offense!

I just went outside for a smoke, and found a bloody pink slip on my car, argh, R200 wasted all because I was running late for work, and decided to park right out front, well I guess I can just park there for the rest of the day at least :P This is the second time now in 3 months :(

The most annoying part is the actual paying of the fine, finding the time to go to a traffic department and wait in a massive queue for all of R200! I know the website PayFine is available, but I have not had much success with it as of yet, perhaps I should look into it again, because paying your fines online is a serious time saver!

I think I best wake up earlier and park in a proper place from now on!

New Adsense Security Feature

We’ve learned through your feedback that some AdSense publishers are concerned about potentially malicious behavior on the web, such as having their ad code stolen, to be placed on an inappropriate site. To give you more control and security concerning ad code, we’ve recently launched the Allowed Sites list.

The Allowed Sites list, which you’ll find by clicking the Allowed Sites link under your AdSense Setup tab, is the place for you to list sites or URLs where you want to allow your ads to appear. Sites that aren’t on your list can still display ads using your ad code; however, impressions and clicks for these sites won’t appear in your reports, advertisers won’t be charged, and you won’t receive any earnings from them.

1 Cool File

I came across this site while surfing around stii.za.net, and it’s rather cool. There are tons of categories, each containing various useful files. I’ve had a look around the various categories and there are a fair number of useful resources. If you are a regular online, this is somewhere you could burn some time, and most probably stumble across something useful and interesting.

Cuill Interesting Links

If there’s one website I visit on a regular basis, it’s WebAddiCT – Miguel is someone who I have chatted to through comment feeds a number of times, and he finds some extremely interesting links on the net – I often wonder whether he ever does any work ;)

He recently posted an interesting blog entry, which contained links to some fantastic websites:

  • Cuill (pronouced [k o o l]), is a new search engine being created by some ex Google employees. They have stated that they are pioneering a new approach to search. Is this going to be some fancy Web 2.0 ajaxy interactive style search engine? I am very interested to see where they take this – imagine combining human interaction with a search engine, so it’s even easier to find what you are looking for based on peoples opinions on top of the fancy search modules!
  • Simpsonizeme is an interesting website, which allows you to upload your own photograph, and the website will then create you a Simpsons character based on your photograph! Got time to kill? Then this is something worth taking a look at!
  • Frozen moments in time – this site captures photographs in freeze frame, there’s not more I can say, other than go and take a look!

Count Readers Plugin

People who run blogs, and enjoy following which articles they have written are most popular, love statistics. I know, personally, that I check my keywords and traffic a couple times a day. I make sure that I know exactly which keywords and threads people are interested in, so that I can work my future posts around them. On top of this, people are like sheep, they follow what others day. If there is a post which has many comments on it, the chances are, other people will show interest to this thread rather than another thread.

Displaying the number of times a thread has been read, is a useful way to control the traffic coming to your website. You can see under the title of my posts, an example of showing the number of reads each article has had.

In order to display the number of reads each of your articles has had is fairly straight forward, here is my example: Continue reading →

What’s Facebook Worth?

Not too long ago, Vinny Lingham wrote an interesting article on his predication that Facebook is worth 10$bn. In his interesting article, he compares Facebook to Google, MSN and such companies to give us all an idea where this massive figure comes from.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen – I’m saying that Facebook probably has a net present value of $10bn, based upon the fact that it could become a credible competitor to Google, Yahoo & MSN in the contextual advertising market. In fact, it’s probably worth more if the titans got into a bidding war for it.

This morning, SAFM featured Vinny’s article, well a similar one at least. These articles are both extremely interesting, and if you are into finance, and the Internet, I would suggest taking a couple minutes to have a quicky read. There are so many articles online about Facebook these days, finding the good ones is getting harder and harder. I have found two interesting articles though, take a read:

Want to link swap?

Good Morning Everyone,

I have decided that it’s time for me to do some link swapping. So, if you are a regular reader of my blog, or even not such a regular reader, and would like to do a link swap, feel free to leave a comment, or contact me and we can have a chat.

These days, the best way to get traffic, is to have incoming links, reciprocal links are not as powerful as one way inward links, but they are still better than no links, and will still result in extra traffic!

Let’s help eachother, let’s swap links!
