PayPal processes 60% of online transactions

With e-commerce being more and more popular, it’s important to know which gateways are ahead of the game. PayPal currently handles 60% of all online transactions and appears to be leaving the other payment gateways in the dust.

In a test period, the following gateways lead the back with this number of transactions:

  • PayPal – 66,059
  • Authorize.net – 17,991
  • Google Checkout – 3,407

Here are some important facts to keep in mind when choosing a payment gateway:

CEO of JP Morgan replies to girl

I picked this up on Facebook earlier and thought it was really clever; a young girl posted a question on a forum asking how she could meet a rich guy to marry and the CEO of JP Morgan replied.

QUESTION:

… I’m going to be honest of what I’m going to say here.

I’m 25 this year. I’m very pretty, have style and good taste. I wish to marry a guy with $500k annual salary or above.

You might say that I’m greedy, but an annual salary of $1M is considered only as middle class in New York.

My requirement is not high. Is there anyone in this forum who has an income of $500k annual salary? Are you all married?

I wanted to ask: what should I do to marry rich persons like you?

Among those I’ve dated, the richest is $250k annual income, and it seems that this is my upper limit.

If someone is going to move into high cost residential area on the west of New York City Garden(?), $250k annual income is not enough.

I’m here humbly to ask a few questions:

  1. Where do most rich bachelors hang out? (Please list down the names and addresses of bars, restaurant, gym)
  2. Which age group should I target?
  3. Why most wives of the riches are only average-looking? I’ve met a few girls who don’t have looks and are not interesting, but they are able to marry rich guys.
  4. How do you decide who can be your wife, and who can only be your girlfriend? (my target now is to get married)

RESPONSE:

Ms. Pretty

A philosophical reply from CEO of J.P. Morgan:

Dear Ms. Pretty,
I have read your post with great interest. Guess there are lots of girls out there who have similar questions like yours. Please allow me to analyse your situation as a professional investor.

My annual income is more than $500k, which meets your requirement, so I hope everyone believes that I’m not wasting time here.

From the standpoint of a business person, it is a bad decision to marry you. The answer is very simple, so let me explain.

Put the details aside, what you’re trying to do is an exchange of “beauty” and “money” : Person A provides beauty, and Person B pays for it, fair and square.

However, there’s a deadly problem here, your beauty will fade, but my money will not be gone without any good reason. The fact is, my income might increase from year to year, but you can’t be prettier year after year.

Hence from the viewpoint of economics, I am an appreciation asset, and you are a depreciation asset. It’s not just normal depreciation, but exponential depreciation. If that is your only asset, your value will be much worse 10 years later.

By the terms we use in Wall Street, every trading has a position, dating with you is also a “trading position”.
If the trade value dropped we will sell it and it is not a good idea to keep it for long term – same goes with the marriage that you wanted. It might be cruel to say this, but in order to make a wiser decision any assets with great depreciation value will be sold or “leased”.

Anyone with over $500k annual income is not a fool; we would only date you, but will not marry you. I would advice that you forget looking for any clues to marry a rich guy. And by the way, you could make yourself to become a rich person with $500k annual income. This has better chance than finding a rich fool.

Hope this reply helps.

J.P. Morgan CEO

Facebook cover photo campaign

Over the past few months I’ve been digging deeper and deeper into the world of social media, but more specifically, campaign running within. So many companies have run incredible campaigns and I’ve spotted a new potential that’s ready and waiting for someone who’s got the budget.

Facebook’s Timeline allows us to include a 850 by 315 cover photograph that appears at the top of your profile, up until now everyone’s merely been putting pictures of themselves or incredible sunsets, or perhaps even something creative, but I’m yet to see an agency run a successful campaign where they pay influential individuals to change their cover photographs to something that lines inside a social media campaign. Honestly, the options are endless and the potential to do something where there’s a QR code or a secret number, or perhaps even an Easter egg for an Easter campaign that forms a clue to solving a mystery, is ripe and ready.

I’m taking part in a BlackBerry Touch Awesomeness campaign and I branded up my cover photograph as follows:

So yeh, there’s an idea for a campaign that could really set off fire and get publicity purely for being the first.

Use it, don’t use it :)

Visa FNB Card Security Week

In the past few weeks I’ve heard 3 people talk about having money stolen from their account via their cards. In fact, it was a few weeks ago that it happened to me and it’s an awful feeling, thank goodness my bank sorted it out so swiftly for me – but to be honest, which it could have just been prevented. Fraud is on the increase, everybody knows it and it’s time that something is done about it!

Well, the good news is that this is happening thanks to Visa and First National Bank, together they’ve teamed up to crease awareness, but most importantly to educate all of us about fraud protection. In an effort to do so, Visa FNB Card Security Week has been launched and will take place between the 13th and 16th of March – it’s all about card and transaction safety, whilst we enjoy the joys of swiping and transacting – imagine we didn’t have those? We take it for granted!

Take a watch:

Did you know: ATM fraud, identity theft and point of sale fraud were identified as the most common types of fraud consumers are aware of.

Perhaps you’ve seen the Verified by Visa security system in place, the system that allows you to buy things online with a personal password to confirm your identity? I’ve seen it when paying my DSTV account and it’s great to know that my details are safe! On the same note, earlier this year I was issued a new chip-based card for security reasons and statistics from FNB state (As of DEC, 2010.  As reported by member financial institutions globally and therefore may be subject to change.) that fraud rates within the Visa system are the lowest they have ever been – just over three cents for every $100 that is spent.. that’s pretty darn good if you ask me.

To quote the online fraud team, “prevention and vigilance is key to the continued safety, reliability and convenience of electronic payments, and Visa’s annual campaign with FNB helps provide customers with information to help them become more fraud savvy.”

It’s articles like this that make me proud to be an FNB and Visa customer!

Fake FNB Guy on Facebook

In light of keeping people up to date with things happening on the Internet that could affect you directly I felt I’d blog about a scam that seems to be taking place on Facebook with someone pretending to be the FNB Guy.

Now, the official account for FNB on Facebook is a page run by RB Jacobs, the FNB Guy (https://www.facebook.com/FNBSA), what appears to be happening is that someone is calling themselves “Fnb Guy Guy”. There isn’t any proof as of yet, but it certainly appears to be an attempt to gain trust, befriend and solicit banking details with the intent on stealing funds.

Like with email, FNB will never ever ask you for your online banking details, pin numbers or such sensitive information, this goes for Facebook as well, don’t trust anyone who asks for these credentials or you might find yourself in a really difficult position!

RB Jacobs suggests immediately blocking “Fnb Guy Guy”!

Be careful on the Internet folks!
