This morning I was looking through some ranking reports for a few clients in different industries and I noticed that in two instances websites that were ranking higher were website's owned by none other than Google. This got me thinking, does Google give it's own ventures preference and more SERP love? I remember reading an article quite some time ago that stated that Google does not give ventures it backs a helping hand in terms of where they appear in the search engine results pages. I find myself thinking two things: Google dominate the search space, if they did give extra value to their ventures would they annoy enough people to threaten their market share? Probably not. THE NEW JSE WEBSITE

Before I write anything I'd like to mention that a friend said to me that I usually put forward a more considered, impartial opinion in response to a Facebook status update I made about the website. He is dead right, I usually do but in this case, as a daily user of the JSE I felt horribly let down by the redesign and there were too many factors that prompted my disappointment. Furthermore, I run a digital marketing agency that designs and builds websites, and I would feel awful if we launched something and go attacked for it. TO KEEP OLD POSTS OR NOT?

Yesterday I silently launched a new version of iMod.co.za with the aim of reinventing my greatest asset. One of the hardest decisions I'm facing is whether I should keep all the old posts  or remove them. It's a difficult choice and I've got pros and cons for each outcome, neither the pros nor the cons out weigh each other. Currently there are 8,149 posts on iMod of which some are really great resources and some aren't. The best thing I could do would be to go through all of them and select the best ones and keep those on the website after cross referencing them against their visitor traffic in Google Analytics. The problem with that is the sheer amount of time it will take to go through 8,000...
