If you’re doing business in any way, you should be registered with the Humans Rights Commission. If you aren’t, you are breaking the law and could face charges and even a 2 year prison sentence! The most worrying part about this is that most small business owners are not even aware of this!

In 2000 the government of the Republic of South Africa passed a very important law, the Promotion of Access to Information Act. This act was aimed to improve transparency in business and in government. It affects the way we do business. [the law]
Who exactly should register?
In terms of the Act everyone who trades in any way needs to register. If you are running a small business from home or a retail shop. Whether you’re running a service business from your car or running your business from a laptop out of a coffee shop – you need to register.
Whether you are running as a Sole Proprietor (in your own name) or as a Closed Corporation or PTY (LTD) you need to register with the SA Human Rights Commission.
Well, how do I register then?
Total Compliance allows you to register online! Simply complete a form and we will then register you with the Human Rights Commission by completing a Section 51 Manual for you. A copy of your registration and a manual will be mailed to you and an electronic copy will be emailed to you, allowing you to feel completely in control.
