WATER SAVING TIPS + MY R250 DIY GREY...

Personal & Lifestyle
piece written on the 6th November 2016 by
For those of you who know me, you'll know that if I'm not at my computer then I'm probably in the garden. Any chance I get to work on my garden is treasured - it doesn't matter if it's at 23h00 at night, peaceful Christopher comes out when in nature. With that in mind, when I hear about people abusing water, it get frustrated because now we're in level 3 of water restrictions and that poses a great problem to my sanctuary. From 1 December 2016 until further notice, all residents are charged according to the level 3 (30% sav...

PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN ON THEIR ANDROID...

Personal & Lifestyle
piece written on the 23rd November 2015 by
Just a few weeks ago my wife and I were blessed with the birth of our first baby boy. Although it's only been a few weeks, being a technologist has me thinking into the future and wondering how on earth I'll protect him against everything that's out there on the world wide web. In a day and age where everything is happening on mobile devices, it's becoming increasing hard to monitor what a child might be doing on their device and protecting them even harder. Facebook alone attracts 1 billion active users a month via mobile devices, and statistics show that the dominant devices being used by children are powered by Android. It's estimated that by 2017, there will be 1 billion Android devices and with the price of these devices being lower than many competitors, they will be the choice of...

PRODUCTIVE SUNDAYS

Personal & Lifestyle
piece written on the 8th October 2015 by
I'm always looking for ways to balance my life and ensure that I get enough time away from work, but also don't fall behind work. So today I decided to write down a few things that I try to do every Sunday before I start the week ahead. #1 Do Something On Your Own During the week I'm interacting continually with people at work and in the evenings I spent time with my wife, our pets, family and friends. This means that I get very little time alone and I've found that this usually only happens really late at night which isn't ideal. So on Sunday's I try to spend a bit of time alone, this could be working in the garden, watching something on television or just sitting in the sun enjoying the peace and quiet. I don't feel that this needs to be a long period of time, but ...

Oh the memories: I cannot even believe that I'm writing this blog post - I wasn't sure that the day would come but here it is and I'm hear to show you that Lexus have made a HOVERBOARD. THE GENERATOR LOW DOWN!

Personal & Lifestyle
piece written on the 15th January 2015 by
I turned to Facebook a few weeks ago to ask for advice about generators, but unfortunately I got those typical responses where people tried to be clever and/or simply pasted links from a Google search. This started to frustrate me, I run a company that relies heavily on Google, trust me, I know how to search! But not just that, I was blown away that nobody could give me a straight answer. What's that saying, "If you want something done properly, do it yourself"? I think so, so that's what I started to do. The first thing I did was look at all the computer shops for their UPS's, but it became quite apparent that a UPS isn't really the way to go, we need generators. So although I don't understand sine waves and kW's, etc. I was able to find some articles and resources that I think you wil...

2015: HOLDING MYSELF ACCOUNTABLE

Personal & Lifestyle
piece written on the 6th January 2015 by
When I sit and think about 2014 I find it hard to believe how quickly the year passed. It's as though it came, saw and conquered right before our eyes. 2014 was a good year for me, it was my first year of being married which went incredibly well, my business has grown on many fronts including staff count, revenue and client base and just generally it felt like a good year. My aim for 2014 was to sustain and maintain, both in my personal life and business, and I'm happy to say that I believe that I achieved this. Although I don't h...

MAZDA RELAUNCHES AND ANNOUNCES NEW MAZDA...

Personal & Lifestyle
piece written on the 23rd October 2014 by
For the car fans out there you'll know that Mazda and Ford have operated under the same umbrella for a long time, but not anymore! Mazda are relaunching independently of Ford and they're doing it with the announcement of the All-New Mazda3. I remember walking around a shopping centre in Cape Town and seeing the Mazda2 when it launched a few years ago, it was a huge step forwards for Mazda in my opinion and to be perfectly honest, I quite fancied the new design. Now the Mazda3 is sticking with this forward thinking approach, take a look at this: The All-New Mazda3 comes in both Hatchback and Sedan, so there's one for the person who want...

JAMES ANDERSON

Personal & Lifestyle
piece written on the 27th May 2014 by
You all know I'm a serious sucker for people who are amazing at singing and dancing. This evening I came across a teenager called James Anderson who is an absolutely incredible singer. He's been around for a while, but this is the first time I've really trolled his YouTube channel. Have a listen to some of these covers he's done, artists like Lorde, Usher and Adele. You can listen to more of his covers on his ...

ROGER FEDERER PLAYING TENNIS WITH GOOGLE...

Personal & Lifestyle
piece written on the 24th May 2014 by
For those of you who know me well, you'll know that I started playing tennis again. After playing tennis throughout school on quite a high level, I decided that I would like to give it a go again. I've hired a coach and every Wednesday I'm out there getting punished, but I'm loving it! Since starting lessons again I've spent time watching one of my favourite players, Roger Federer. There are thousands of awesome YouTube videos of him playing, but today I came across something even better - Him playing using Google Glass, so you can actually see what he sees when he plays! The video isn't amazing, you can only expect so much from a camera on a person's head, but it's a really good start at seeing the potential of Google Glass, which is still in early development in my opinion - sky's ...
