Pikachu Lips

Body art, piercings, tattoo’s and the likes take a huge amount of talent when done properly. I came across this photograph which shows a woman’s lips painted so as to be Pikachu:

I guess if you’re into Pokemon, you might find this quite attractive?

Everyday awesomeness: Spy Toy

There’s a reason why people love series’ like House, The Mentalist, CSI, White Collar and Chuck. It’s probably because there’s something about the fun/thrill of working out the mystery! I spotted this little gadget on the Popular Mechanics website. For Chuck watchers: I can imagine John Casey pulling it out of his backpack on a recon mission.

From the PM website:

The Cold War may be history, but that doesn’t mean you can’t dabble with the occasional clandestine adventure. Measuring a mere 86 x 30 x 12 mm, the retro-looking Minox Digital Spy Camera is a masterpiece in minimalist design – that means you can shoot all kinds of subjects on the sly.

The bright viewfinder allows for spontaneous, fast shots, even in critical light conditions. In twilight its integrated flash switches on automatically. There’s an additional external flash that can be docked on to the side of the camera. And to provide users with the convenience of a display for viewing image results, the flash also features an integrated 3,8 cm TFT LCD monitor. Images can be stored on micro SD cards up to 16 GB in capacity. Other features include a 5-megapixel CMOS sensor, a lens aperture of 2.0 and a rechargeable lithium polymer battery. It shoots AVI video, too. Price: about R2 200. Visit www.wantitall.co.za

Is this a toy you’d like to add to your camera collection?

PUMA launches cool new Facebook Application

You may not be a king of Soccer City like Siphiwe Tshabalala, but thanks to a new application from PUMA you can crown yourself king of, well, whatever and wherever you like. To celebrate the launch of the PUMA King Finale football boot and apparel range on 8 January, 2011, this new Facebook application allows users to create bespoke poster images mimicking PUMA’s new retro-styled ‘King Of…’ advertising campaign.

The easy to use ‘PUMA King of…’ Facebook application engages fans by celebrating the assets they feel should be celebrated. Not getting the credit for being the true king of the park, playground or football team? Or are you the unsung king of the overhead kick, the nutmeg or even own goals? The new ‘PUMA King of…’ application allows fans to add their image to a template of the brand’s new advertising campaign, alongside text identifying where and what they think they’re the ‘king of’. After all, you can’t always rely on club managers, friends or competitors to give this sort of respect!

There are five different striking designs (for users who do not want to incorporate any photographs, there is a design that is text only) and a vast array of colour options as the backdrop. Fans can then upload any image from their Facebook albums before entering a short phrase relating to what they think they are the ‘king of’.

The ‘PUMA King of…’ application gives the fans the ability to customize their creations, download them for their own use and share them in social exchange whilst also offering the option to submit their designs to the ‘PUMA King Sticker wall’ hosted within the application. The application also enables users to post their picture to their Facebook wall and share the images on Twitter.

The new application supports the launch of the latest PUMA King Finale boots and range of apparel. PUMA King was first launched 42 years ago, bringing more than four decades of performance excellence and continuous product evolution to the market. Designed with Eusébio, and worn by legends of the game including Pelé, Maradona, Netzer, Kempes and Matthäus, it continues to be recognised by many players around the world.

37 Signals office photographs

Based in Chicago, Illinois, 37 Signals is one of the most respected software agencies on the web. I got a huge shock when I found out that the company was made up of only 12 people! I also got a shock when I heard it was as old as 11 years, founded in 1999.

37 Signals run a number of online ventures, but there main 4 software applications (cloud) are:

  1. Basecamp – Project Management tool
  2. Highrise – Contact Management tool
  3. Backpack – Organise and Share information internally
  4. Campfire – Work online in real-time

Anyway, let’s look at some office photographs:

Find images with Twitter hashtags

A new website has popped into the social sphere, which simply, Hashalbum allows you to find photographs based on hashtags. That’s right, so searching for a hashtag will show you all photographs related to it.

I naturally typed in “capetown” to give it a try and this is what came up:

hashtag-images

What an awesome form of image search – Google Images is user generated and so is this, but I can’t help but feel as though this is more organic than Google’s methods. Click here to give it a try.

What do you think? Hit or miss?

My biggest rainbow trout yet

This morning, after some duties, I headed through to Franschhoek to do some much needed fishing. The destination was La Ferme.

I arrived on location around brunch time, the weather was gorgeous, but the fish really weren’t too interested in any of the flies that I threw at them. Well, that was until around lunch time when the wind picked up and obviously started blowing some bugs into the water, which was exciting the fish. I quickly changed flies to a DDD fly, changed location and cast from about 1.5m away from the edge of the dam. On my one cast, as the fly hit the water, the rainbow trout got on and for the next 10 minutes I fought with the bugger – what an awesome fight it was!

Here she is:

The biggest rainbow I’ve caught yet, I’m absolutely over the moon! The staff even ran off to fetch a camera, so I’ll have another pic of me holding it in the next several days hopefully!

She was released right afterwards and swam off into the depths of the dam, hopefully to bring a sm:)e to someone elses face in the not too distant future.

Great day of fishing!
