Light from your geeky Sun or Moon jar

Captured inside the Sun and Moon Jars are a highly efficient solar cell, a rechargeable battery and low energy LED lamps. When the jar is placed in direct sunlight the solar cell creates an electrical current that charges the battery over a few hours. This energy is then used at night to power the three LED lamps inside the jar.

 Sun Moon Jar

The light is diffused by the frosted jar and give the appearance of sunlight emitting from the sun or a cool moon glow (warm colored LED lights are used to give a more natural and warm light). You may have noticed that there is no switch on the Sun Jar – in fact there are no visible controls at all – but there is a clever light sensor inside that automatically activates the LEDs when it gets dark or the lights are turned out! (There is an override switch inside the lid to turn off the light at night and conserve battery life.)

Mason jars are not only beautiful but by their very nature they are water tight – so the Sun Jar can happily be left outside in any weather conditions. A perfect garden light or night light for a childs bedroom. The Sun Jar needs DIRECT sunshine to work! Leave the Sun Jar outside or in a sunny window in direct sunlight for several hours to charge, (electric light indoors is not bright enough!). The Sun and Moon Jars use a standard AA rechargeable battery, which is replaceable.

eSquared Toys

The other day, eSquared announced 15% off all products, and I blogged about it and then decided to contact the powers and ask them to organise some photographs online of the toys specifically as a number of people asked me about them.

After patiently waiting, I was sent a link to an eSquared Flickr set, with a collection of photographs of the eSquared Toys, so without delaying anymore, here are some pics :)

Threadless tee arrived successfully

This morning I arrived at work and was graced, happily, with the arrival of the Threadless T-shirt I ordered a couple weeks ago. I was starting to get a little worried that the tee had been lost in the post, clearly not.

The quality of the tee is wonderful and the print is of high quality. I ordered a size small, which was a perfect choice! The packing is nothing like Oddica’s packaging, but that’s not overly important in my opinion. They did include a couple stickers, which I will use happily.

So, ye, all in all I’m very happy that the tee arrived and very happy with the quality!

What’s happening to Afrigator?

afrigator.jpg

“Hot news in the SA blogosphere currently is that Afrigator.com, the Africa-centric social media aggregator, has been named one of 31 ‘hot non-US Web 2.0 startups to be watched’ by Business 2.0 magazine on CNNMoney.com” more..

I’m not so sure I agree with this anymore, don’t get me wrong, I think Justin, Mark, Stii and Mike did a fantastic job, but I don’t think it’s working nearly as well as it should be anymore. I am aware that the Afrigator beta version is coming soon though! The minute Afrigator was launched, I signed up and immediately began to feed my feeds to their site and all was good. I enjoyed seeing the other bloggers getting involved and I enjoyed their blog posts and the publicity which was created around Afrigator.

These days I find the site incredibly slow and there is no way to retrieve your password if you have forgotten it. If you type in an incorrect password, it sends you to your dashboard, displaying all the control, but saying that you have entered in the incorrect username and password and displays a PHP error. On top of this, I have still not received my t-shirt from Afrigator (7th October 2007) when they held a win a tee competition. Nic from SA Rocks delivered my tee a few days after I blogged about it and I was very impressed with him. Why did Afrigator not step up to the plate?

I want to be able to put an Afrigator support badge back on my website, but I will not do this until I actually feel as though it’s worth supporting Afrigator.

Ps. Justin.. I know you got my postal address and everything, and I know you confirmed with me, perhaps the delivery never arrived?

I hearts Threadless T-shirts

After reading a blog post written by Mark about ‘A lesson in e-commerce‘, I decided I would order something from Oddica.com, which is the company we purchased some tees from very successfully. I headed on over and had a look through the catalogue, but unfortunately all the designs which caught my eye were either sold out or in the wrong sizes. This is understandable as they have just had a massive sale, so I guess I will wait until new stock arrives.

After failing at my first attempt, I headed over to Threadless to have a look at their range and I managed to find a wicked tee. Threadless and Oddica are both extremely user friendly and placing an order takes a matter of minutes. My order arrives in 5-10days, so once it arrives, I will blog about the experience with Threadless, hopefully it’ll be as great at Marks experience.

Uber Wi-Fi Sniffing T-Shirt

I was browsing Think Geek earlier, when I came across one of the most imba things I have seen in a long time – the Think Geek uber hawt Wi-Fi sniffing t-shirt!

wifi_shirt_anim.gif

The story is simple.. this t-shirt sniffs hotspots, simple. As you walk around, when your t-shirt hits a Wi-Fi zone, it will light up notifying you and everyone around you, that you are in a Wi-Fi zone!

Totally awesome, you can’t deny it!

Armed with your Wi-Fi sniffing t-shirt and your Yeigo mobile, you can call anywhere in the world for free, the minute someone points at your t-shirt – HOW’S THAT!?

If anyone decides to purchase one, please let me know!!! I am waiting for my credit card – I would kill for one!

75% off sale!

 asos_logo.gif

Asos, one of my favourite fashion distributors are havin an up to 75% off sale. From Jerseys to Tees to Hoodies to Jackets, there’s something for everyone. Asos are continually offering fantastic specials on stylish clothing, and this sale seems to be one of the best thus far.
