Style Crush: Anne Hathaway

Since Anne Hathaway starred in the Princess Diaries, I have been a fan. Anne’s  classic, mostly conservative, style choices may be a bit on the safe side – but she always looks like a lady.

  1. wearing a floral Dolce & Gabbana dress
  2. In Salvatore Ferragamo outfit
  3. In  a very pretty Fred Leighton dress
  4. Wearing Lanvin

Anne Hathaway has just won the part of catwoman in the next Batman film, due out in 2012. Anne Hathaway is currently starring alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in the film “Love and Other Drugs” (it will be out in SA from 28 January)

Scarlett Johansson does Moet & Chandon

Moet & Chandon Champagne is one of my favourites, and so is Scarlett Johansson, so put the two together and you’ve got something quite incredible.

Scarlett is the face of Moet & Chandon in their latest advertising campaigns, take a peak:

Do you like to read at night?

I’m not much of a reader, but I know a great deal of people who are and I know a lot of them do their reading at night time. When I tried to read, it was also at night, I couldn’t find comfortable positions and having a big light on used to bug me.

I came across this cool gadget on Yanko, let me post some photographs rather than explaining it as they paint the picture perfectly:

How neat is that?

Esquire names and shames Mark Zuckerberg

Esquire has put together its list of worst dressed celebrities for 2010. Amongst the names like Robert Pattinson, Nick Cannon and Jared Leto is none other than Mr Time Magazine himself, Mark Zuckerberg.

Esquire said the following, “no matter how much money you have or how many people’s secrets you hold in your digital palm, you cannot show up to a black-tie event in a t-shirt and jeans and expect to be taken seriously.”

I highly doubt the billionaire gives a rats ass! I must admit, I’m in between a rock and a hard place over this. One side of me says kudo’s for not having to dress like a corporate chump, but the other half says that having style does carry you well in certain situations.

Mark’s got nothing to worry about, if it become a problem, he could throw a bar or two at any label and get sorted in a jiffy!

Style Crush: Natalie Portman

I have always loved Natalie Portman’s classic, sometimes understated, style:

  1. Wearing Vionnet
  2. In a gorgeous Christian Dior gown
  3. In a Christian Dior cocktail dress
  4. Rocking a purple Lanvin dress

Natalie Portman is set to have a busy year, as she is currently pregnant and engaged. Natalie has also just become the face of Miss Dior Cherie Perfume.

I am looking forward to seeing Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis in their latest film, Black Swan, when it comes out in South Africa.

R120m goods – to burn or not to burn?

Yesterday, a hot topic in the news was 120 million rands worth of fake designer clothes being found in 5 containers at Durban Harbour. These clothes had been sent from China and were destined for Johannesburg; they ranged from Nike shoes to Georgio Armani goods.

The counterfeit goods have been done so well that you would basically have to cut through the sole of a Nike shoe to determine whether it was fake or not.

Anyway, that’s not what I wanted to really get into, what I wanted to discuss was something I heard on the radio – Various parties are waiting on a ruling to burn the clothes to prevent them from circulating. Now, I understand that circulating the goods isn’t ideal for the economy and various other things, but is burning them an ethical move? There are thousands of homeless people throughout Africa, surely it would be better to distribute the clothes? Ok, sure, it’s not the best option for many reasons that come to mind, but surely just burning them is plain darn stupid?

What do you think? To burn or not to burn?

Harddrive with Trackpad

André Silva has come up with a harddrive that has a trackpad – Yup, we’ve moved from bulky harddrives in our computers to small ones we carry around with us and now we’re moving into the trackpad revolution and incorporating the technology into harddrives, take a look:

From a style point of view, I love how it appears to be floating, what an awesome addition to your work space don’t you think? The designer has placed glass under the unit and even added lights to give it that futuristic look. The device will come with USB 3.0 technology and is available in SSD and HDD.

You can navigate through websites, swipe to see your photographs and even pinch to zoom in and out on images.

Very cool!
