KylaD – South African 14yr old pop star

There’s a lot of talk about KylaD at the moment, the 14 year old has become a pop star and the public is loving it.

Here’s her track:

Kudo’s to her; not my style at all, but kudo’s none-the-less!

Bounty Arms Teaser Trailer HD

Bounty Arms is an old-school 3d side-scrolling action game that utilizes modern technology from the Unreal Engine 3. Over the course of the final game you gather power-ups that hugely alter your character and weapon arsenal, travel across the galaxy to many different worlds, unlock hidden doors to secrets, join with new comrades, fight the multitude of varying enemies that each world will bring, and defeat the bosses that rule them. Currently only a single player demo but final game will be co-op 4 players in the future.

The most exciting thing about this game, for me, is that it’s being developed by a South African software development house, Open-Reset. Open-Reset is currently seeking International publishers to help assist with the game.

Take a watch:

Looks pretty cool doesn’t it? It’s being built on the UT3 rendering engine, nice one!

Alicia Keys – Try sleeping with a broken heart

I’ve always felt that Alicia was highly talented, and with her new song, “Try sleeping with a broken heart”, she’s proven it yet again. Take a listen:

Oh, and we all know Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z, well have you heard Alicia’s cover:

[Thanks Rox for remind me about her new tune]

The renewed value of branding

Another Whiteboard Friday is upon us, thanks to SEOmoz; this week we’re looking at a topic related to Branding; now, a lot of people argue that branding doesn’t have anything to do with SEO, directly it doesn’t, but indirectly it does. I don’t see SEO as merely driving traffic from one place to another, but rather driving traffic from one place to another to perform a specific task and in order to increase the chances of having a task done, branding/design plays a big role.

Official Make The Circle Beega music video

Just the other day I blogged about the gone-viral, Make The Circle Beega song, but I wasn’t completely happy because of the music video I found. It wasn’t the official one and it was rather rubbish to be honest.

Anyway, Marc came to the rescue and has supplied us with the official one, sit back, light up a smoke and enjoy:

Owl City – Fireflies

This song’s been racing up the charts over the past several weeks and I’ve loved it since the start..

Do you like it?

PS. You see that cool light (in the beginning) with the multiple colours in cricles that spins around? Well, you can buy one from Builders Warehouse, I saw them there last week :)

Crazy Heart – Movie Review

This weeks movie review is Crazy Heart..

Jeff Bridges’ incredible performance is not the only aspect of this movie that deserves praise. Bridges—who will most likely win an Oscar for his performance (sorry, Colin Firth, it was just your bad luck to deliver your best performance in the same year)—inhabits the character of Bad Blake so thoroughly and convincingly that you forget you’re watching Jeff Bridges; he truly gives life to this alcoholic but talented country singer who is searching for some joy and redemption at the end of his career.

crazy-hearts

Maggie Gyllenhaal is wonderful in a supporting role as Blake’s girlfriend, and Colin Farrell is a genuine surprise as Blake’s protégé, Tommy Sweet. (By the way, who the heck knew that Farrell—and Bridges, for that matter—could sing so well?) Bonus: the soundtrack is awesome. Interesting cinema synergy—Robert Duvall (still a working actor at the age of 79), who produced this film and has a small supporting role, won a Best Actor Oscar in 1984 for playing a character similar to Bad Blake in “Tender Mercies.”

Starring: Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Directed by: Scott Cooper
Genre: Drama
Running time: 112 min
