When i asked her if it will be a cash cheque she just said they will post it in 24 hours……
i also received the same: (copy and pasted)Name:
Number: +27782775695
Content:
CONGRATULATIONS YOUR CELL NO. HAS WON YOU R95,000,00 AND NOKIA E65 PHONE IN THE NOKIA ANNUAL PROMOTION WITH TICKET NO.YX2.TO CLAIM CONTACT LUCKY AT 0727709437.
Time: 18/02/2011 03:22:00.
I call the guy and he says i must sent him air time of R100 and i must give him my bank account details so that they would deposit me money and my physical address. he says he is at 28 Longstreet,Glenpoint, Capetown.
i then told him i wasn’t aware that Nokia was running such a promotion and i asked him how this can be authenticated? he replied this is done privately.
his english and accent sounded like a nigerian national (not an offence to our nigerian brothers) but he sounded like a nigerian.
i asked for more details and i asked him what is his position at nokia and he said he is a ‘supervisor’!
oh surely what a nice conversation i had. so i am the winner!
I received one 22/2/2011…I had won this awesome amount…hahahaha, so I phoned…just 4 the laugh of it..spoke to a lady called Sandra Atkins..cell nr 073 766 3290..poor thing..she’s a japanese girl…could barely understand me…aitog! As if Nokia would employ such a dummy!!! I had a lekka laugh..
I just received one today, all other financial institutions issue warnings regarding such scams to alert people, NOKIA must do something about this. I would be concerned if I were a director in NOKIA about our brand name being trashed like that. It sounds as though NOKIA appreciates the name scam and NOKIA in one sentence and it rhymes for them.
I received a message at 05h30 this morning 28th Febsaying my mobile no has won R950.000 in NOKIA YEARLY PROMOTION, with e Ticket no.p147V. For claims call Mr Victor on 0733386425.
When i call ed a very profesisional Mr Victor answered and asked me from what Province i was from, instead i asked him where and what company he was from and why does he not use his land line. He put the phone down. When i called back it was on voice mail. Obviously a scam.
Is it not possible to trace owners details now with this RICA requirement? to be able to put these people behind bars.
Received sms” you have won R100 000.00. Kep calling me to deposit R 1300.00 to cover bank trsf fees. This is a scam is it not?
Would appreciate a reply
Thanks
I received a sms – - won R195000 from Nokia. I had to phone mrs Nomsa 0781063535. I was told to phone back after 5 min for them to confirm the winning no. I phoned back and was told to buy 2xR180 MTM vouchers and phone the pin no on the vouchers to them. I need not load the airtime before contacting her again to discuss the payment. I checked on Google and found all the other persons that had the same experience. Looks like a scam.
That is definitely a scam Wilna.
I’ve received the same thing.
“Congratulations! Your mobile no has won R95,000 and a NOKIA PROMO with ticket no. Z166P. For claim call Mrs. Judith. 078 161 5890″
called, she asked for bank transfer or cheque. I didnt give them anything.
Be careful guys these scams are all around!
This is sommer ********!!!!! Nokia do something!!!!!!!!!!! What the hell!!!!! For me it looks like Nokia enyoing themself with all these comments!!!!!! Don’t tell me there is NOTHING you can do about this!!!!! You guys are useless!!!!
@Genice – Firstly, I don’t appreciate swearing on my website. Secondly, stop for a second and think.. what could Nokia possibly do? Wait.. Wait.. Don’t talk, think a little longer. Ok, now have your say..
I don’t need to think. What would you do if this happens to you and you were not that wake-up like all the other guys and you loose money. If we can phone them and get through to these people, can’t Nokia to that?
It won’t help Genice, Nokia can’t phone up every single scam artist out there it wouldn’t get them anywhere. The scam artist would not care at all, changing sim cards would take them 5 minutes and they’d move onto the next person. As the general public, we need to be more aware and realise that 99% of these things are spam, if you win a prize, trust me, Nokia would contact you and let you know.
Well then I hope everyone is on this website to see & read about this scam if that is the ONLY way to warn the public!
Absolutely Genice, creating the awareness is what it’s all about, that’s why I love that I can provide this platform, prevent others from getting scammed!
At the end of the day, Nokia really can’t do anything about it unfortunately and I’m 100% sure they are aware of it!
I have been screwed over. I gave away my home address. Oh my word, are they to rob me because of that?
lol ma dad also received an sms saying he won 250,000 nd he was told to call keren they gave th no. the nxt thng is tht he calld nd thn they told him to buy 2 mtn airtyms worth 180,00 thts when i found out nd i told him not to send the airtym

LOL……
I have also received an sms that said I have won in a prize in the Nokia Annual competition. Is anyone checking this out because it is our poor brothers and sisters who will get scammed simply because they don’t have access to the internet to check this out.
If we are supposed to rica our cell numbers I suppose this people also have names, Identities and physical addresses so they can be found… Right???
PLEASE PUT AN END TO THIS SCAM. I HAVE RECEIVED THREE SUCH SMS’S THIS YEAR.
I also received sms saying that my number was among the lucky winners on the NOKIA INT’L yearly promo. They gave me the ticket number and said I should call Bridget on this number :0784174465.I don’t know if this is real or not.But to my knowledge I think is a scam

I received a sms saying I’ve won the yearly Nokia Promotion. To claim the prize money of R250,000, I must call Dr. Richard Gift. First I must buy an Mtn R180 recharge voucher, sms the pin to him, the next day I must pay transfer costs of R2370 to be able to receive the money via bank transfer. Can you please assist me.
Kind Regards
Elmarie
For the many that don’t get it, if you did not enter a competition then how can u win, is it not obvious that getting a random sms like Elmarie’s is a scam, if Nokia – MTN did give you a sms that you won a prize, u would not need to send them air time or money….
P.S. for the idiotic few that do send the air time, your helping the scammers sms more people with fake sms’s
i recivd a msge sayind that my numbr has won r250000.and got a numbr an stuff.i cald nd a funny guy answrd,nd evn askd wich provnce im calng frm i den tld hm and he said i sud buy airtym 4rm spar nd then cal dem bk and the mny wil be in my acc witin 24hurz is it a scammmmmmmmmm
I received the similar sms early this morning, this is a scam and people need to be warned out there.
Through RICA, this people should be hunted and brought to book. They are here to earn money passively from our own poor people.
i guess not many people read the posts, yes Sharen its a scam, like i said before, you need to enter a competition to win, most will phone you to say you have won, or visit u with a camera for TV or the paper.
FOR EVERY ONE!!!!!!!!!!
IF YOU GET A SMS SAYING YOU WON MONEY / STUFF, AND DID NOT ENTER ANY SORT OF COMPETITION THEN ITS A SCAMM!!!
Wat van die mensies wat nie toegang tot e-mail het nie, wat nie nie so oplettend soos ons nie. Dis al waaroor ek worry!!!! Want om hierdie mense te stop/vang wat dit doen, sal nie kan realiseer nie.
THIS IS THE SMS I RECEIVED: Congratulation’s you have won R160,OOO From NOKIA YEARLY PROMOTION.YOUR TICKET NO 2211KK. PLEASE CONTACT Miss Liziwe ON 0711096153. FOR YOUR CLAIM. N.Y.P. What made me suspicious is the fact that I have to go and buy a R220.00 Vodacom airtime and phone back. I am not that stupid!!!
I got an sms (nokia) You have won the sum of R175,000 in nokia drop with ref no:019nkp contact m.grace on 0783185485 to receive your price. is this a scam?
Yes @dries

Hi,I received a SMS from nokia competition 21 march to congratualate me,
so a send all my bank details,do you real exist? Thanks.
@Muya – Nokia would never ask you to send your bank details, please don’t, it’s a scam.
Hi all, received a sms last night on that i’ve won R95 000 and need to phone them. when phoning you need to put your caller id on so that they can check your number….this is also a big scam!!!!
0710590456 – Same scam message – R175000 prize – need to send them an airtime voucher to validate it.
My gardner received a call from someone saying he works for Nokia and that he won R95000,00 rands but he must first take out insurance to be able to claim this money, what insurance i am still not sure of and if you won something why must you pay a monthly installment on it?????????????
I send this person my email address and hope he emails me all the details so i can make more sense of this.
hi,
i also received an sms saying that MY SIM CARD HAVE MARIT (R175.00) S THIS TRUE
Definitely a scam Christine!
Also received sms …..
“You have won the sum of ( R175,000) in nokia yearly promo, with code no:019NKP, Pls contact M. Grace on: (078-764-3881) to receive your price”….She could hardly speak English!
Requested me to send courier details and the next sms read as follows; “My name is mrs Botha nokia general accountant, in regard to the deliver your cheque you have to pay R1,950 for insurance and cheque delivery charges so that your wining prize can be in your address today. kindly contact Mr Adams on : 0218135886 or 0832478975 for the payment instruction thanks, Botha.”
My question is: If I won such a lovely amount why should I pay R1950 to have it couriered when it costs between R150 and R400 to courier a parcel of 5kg weight?
NOKIA PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS………SURELY IT IS RUINING YOUR REPUTATION!!
I receive a sms on my laptop that says my mobile nr has win R250 000,00. The lady’s name is Margaret van Zyl. She want me to purchase a vodacom prepaid airtime voucher of R275,00 and phone her with the nr so that they can put it on my phone account. Then they will post me the cheque. Is this yet another scam?
Go Mrs.H!!!!
This morning I have received an sms saying ‘Congratulations:your number has won R250000.00 in Nokia Yearly Promotion with ticket no:2295NP call 0719457090 to claim from 8am-5pm T&C apply, Nokia Connections
I received an sms this morning:

I allowed myself to feel excited for a few seconds cause I neeed the money for my wedding (wow what luck!). I knew it was a scam, but called the number anyway from my landline. It was answered by a “groggy male Nigerian” (no surprises there!), so I just put the phone down.
Ag there goes my wedding money!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Guys, I just read through all of that and jusdging by what I read this is most likely a scam, lol… Anyone let me know if they get anything like this. “Congratulations:Your cell no won you R500,000 in the nokia 2011 promo. Ref no C20. Contact James A @ 078 707 1364, and make sure your ref no is activated.”
haha, like hell I’m gonna call “James”, just wanna ask something if you don’t mind Chris M.. dude, has nokia ever had such a promo? Also, how does NOKIA!!! get our numbers when they are not even service providers???? Vodacom, MTN, Cell C I can understand… But NOKIA? SAMSUNG? ERICSON? How would THEY receive our numbers? Is it even possible or has nokia never had such a promo to begin with? If they have I believe that would have started this scam, if they haven’t just tell us, it would make everyones life here much easier.
Hi, i have received an email from miss Liziwe 6 o’clock this morning to say that i have wone a big amount of money from Nokia – can you send me an email to say if it is ligit or not. If i try to phone, it rings, then the person shut down the call.
thanx!!
Probably a scam. As discussed earlier, if you have won money then they would actually call you to tell you, not email, sms etc, especially considering the amount you’ve won. I wouldn’t trust it if I were you.
Dear Management, Directors and Board Members,
Recently the wife and I recieved a SMS stating we have won R250000.00 for the nokia 2011 promo according to cell phone number selection with a ref num, and as any willing and needy citizen we phoned to ascertain how and when and what, the reply from 0735226195 indicated we have to purchase a telkom voucher to the value of R200.00 and supply the pin number and our bank details for payment or transfer of funds.
Could management of nokia please provide an answer to this and if legal or scam.
If this is true, we would personally thank nokia for this wonderful and much needed gift, if not I would appreciate nokia to follow up on this number and resolve.
Sincerely
A.J.Mc Bride
hey everyone.
last night my husband recieved a sms saying “CONGRATULATION!YOUR NUMBER WAS AMONG THE LUCKY WINNERS ON THE YEARLY PROMO.YOU WON R750.000 TICKET NO:O44N:CAL MRS SMITH 0710589118 FOR YOUR CASH PRIZE.lol now really we phoned an mrs smith who didnt sound very friendly or energetic said that we must buy R180 mtn an send the no so that they can confirm that it is from my no.i then asked her is there a landline i can phone to verify so c told me it is off at the moment they using the cellphone system they will send the money in 24hours an she keeps repeating the same thing.get us all excited for nothing nokia must really do sumthing before someone gets scamed for real lock these people up they deserve to be in jail…
I received a sms of a nokia promotion, REF. NO.: 010KP – R250.000. Call claim centre at 072 414 7893. I must buy a voucher and send the number to them, together with my bank details and relevant information. Is this for real.
I received a message saying our number was selected a winner of a large sum of money from nokia. The first day we contacted the number which was given as contact:073 9429 526 Brenda Nkosi with REF FA286. The contact person told my wife that we should buy airtime for R200.00 in order to claim the prize.I further tried to make a followup call the next day buy could not get hold of the contact person.Tell me if this is one of the scams going around or not.
i receive a call saying that i won 195000 advise ppl the personne his asking for my banking details and id numb is that true or if it is truth why they dnt giv me a call why do i hav to call them
I got the EXACT same sms as Natasha Bense! Everything the same. Received it this morning (not early hours, it was at 9 o’clock). Anyway, also mrs Smith with that exact number, which means theykve been ABLE to use the same numbers for a while now cause they can. No threat for them yet. Will the police actually do something if I give them the numbers? Like trace them or something? I called her to hear what’s the story (and yes she is dull) and she said R250 airtime and that I should sms the pin nr and a few other personal details in 24hours and then they’ll call and let me know how I should use the airtime. In 24 hours hey… They must really need that airtime. Can someone trace the numbers or something?
I thought about maybe sending Mrs Smith a sms saying that okay I did it. I gave their numbers to the police and nokia services and the police are tracing them now, just to scare them. Cause I think actually that the police has better things to do and enough bodies to find than track ppl that TRY to steal airtime bvy making ppl look like fools. Is it a stupid idea?
Hi…I received a message saying my number was selected a winner of a large sum of money from nokia, and my number is +255717056925 form Tanzania..please
Nokia do something for me.
Receved a sms stating i have won R500000.00 ref C20………….
all from nokia, but why must i then buy airtime for R220 to validate it????
Sound fishy!!!!!!!!!!
This Nokia competition is a scam. Rica can do nothing given the level of corruption the scammers have. If they can open bank accounts with fake details, what is a starter pack to them? In place of using the technology they hev for the benefit of the country they abuse it. Let the SAPS Inteligence investigate&arrest them.

i received an sms this morning saying that i’ve won R250 000 from nokia yearly promotion reference nr 011kz,and has to contact adams, and then mrs botha nokia general accountant this guy is still phoning me wanting to knw when i will deposit the R2500,and by doing that the money will then b in at 13:00,what a bunch of rubbish,i was such fool by giving my postal addr, you can barely here what his say, please becareful people!this is a scam
I also received an sms saying congratulations you have won R250 000.00 from Nokia Promo 2011 ref no.0193Np call Mrs Khaya at 0735226195.
Yes I phoned and spoken to a fluent Zulu-speaking lady. She asked me to buy a vodacom vouucher for R275.00 and give the voucher number to her.
She told me she will need my bank acc. when I give her the voucher so that they can deposit the money. I was tempted but later realise this is a SCAM.
My question is why our ladies are allowing hooligans to use them.
And what is Nokia and Rica doing about this for the protection of the poor people of this country and worldwide.
Bonji Lee
I also recieved an sms saying CONGRATULATION! you have won R175 000 from Nokia Promo 2011 ref 119NKP to claim my price I must call Joy @ 0839405748 I called and a Zulu lady answered and ask me to sms her my names and ref nr plus bank account when I was calling again she disconnects the phone
i just received the damn msg this morning!!! something needs to done!!! this seems like a really huge scam that is running!!!
Also had this sms. got the details from them as follows :
* First the R110-00 Airtime must be paid. They say there is no other payment; but then :
* Transfer charges of R 1830-00, no other charges but then,unfortunately :
* High Court Charges of R 3150-00, again nothing else, but
* Insurance charges of R 4699-00, again no other charges, but then
* Insurance certificates of R 7500-00, and so the list go on and on.
I,ve spoken to a few people and that’s everything I can come up with for you guy’s to look out for. Apparently they promise you everytime that there is no other payment, but everytime after a payment, somebody let’s you know that this is a payment to be made, but it is the last payment, but ……..
Look out for other persons called John and a person calling himself Mr. Martin. The availible tel numbers is 079 323 6035 and 078 012 3079, and then there is a lady by the name Natally and if I’m correct, the number there is 078 300 4651. I’ve phoned this number and she did answer. When asked about a landline number, her excuse was that Telkom is busy with there lines and that they are going to get new numbers, she will forward the numbers after Telkom is finished.
Watch out.
One more thing, she gave there address as 8 Parlementstreet, PE. If there is anybody in PE, would it be possible to confirm and let us know. Maybe we can do somehing about this ourselves and stop them.
I received the sms too saying i have won money and i gave them my bank account what can i do???????

i received SMS that i won 2500, 000 and must phone anthony. found he has west african accent and i just tell F**k you man cuz it truly a scum.
Guys Guys Guys! If you get a sms or email from nokia or any other company it is a scam! any respected business will phone you and tell you themselves. they will not ask your bank details but will bring the winning cheque to your home address and give it in your hands. if any company having a competition have r150, 000 or r200, 000 to give away in a competition they surely will have money to phone you. why ask you for a voucher? nokia is doing something about it. go on the net and search nokia competitions or nokia scams then u’ll see its been published. it’s not published through tv or radio because it is embarrassing to them. if someone fall for these scams it is there own problem because you do not need internet to know it’s a scam. i think all the people has been warned about these scams so just delete it from your phone and ignore it. they will not phone you because it will cost them too much. is this clear anough?

i have got an sms saying that i won 75000 i called the number and they said i want the money cash or cheque . i sadi cheque and they said i can come and get it from them or they will courier it and i need to pay for that .
A friend of mine recieved a mesage a little over four months ago telling her won R295 000 for a NOKIA Promotion, when she asked what was the promotion for they claimed that people were randomly selected for them having Rica their phones. The lady who got in contact with her by the name of Linda Ngozi asked that she sms them a vodacom voucher for R110, which she then desputed however thinking she should try her luck she proceeded in doing so.
They then requested she pays an amount R1680 for a courier service to have her cheque delivered, which really did seem dodgy. To cut the story short, these Fraudsters have been demanding her to pay money which she has been doing through an agent by the name of Richard Bebson which now amounts to R37 000, just for her to get her money. Whenever it’s time for her to get her money they claim that the office in the UK is holding back her transaction and she needs to pay in more more money to get her winnings. The sad thing is these people forced her to pay an amount of R1780 claiming that it was for a cherity (surely her having to pay over to a cherity should have been her choice) if she did’t pay this amount she would not recieve her money and this is according to South African Regulations.(Really)
NOKIA, You need to investigate this, your brand has been associated with criminal activity and if this entire promotion is true, you are playing with peoples lives.

”Congratulations from NOKIA PROMOTIONS, your cellnumber has won you R150,000 with ref 16Np, pls call Mr Borwn on 0724138854 to receive your price.”
these are all point blank scams. we cant blame Nokia if a third party uses their brand to carry out crimes of this nature. The bigger crime here is that people are so naive to just hand over hard earned money to complete strangers for competitions they know they never entered:-( everything has a pricetag…stupidity as well.
so wise up, and feel free to reply to those smses with as many vulgarities as you possibly can. If id received one id buy an sms bundle and turn the tables on these fraudsters by telling them theyve won free holidays…everyday .
Congratulation’s your mobile number have won R195,000 From UK NOKIA YEARLY PROMOTION. YOUR TICKET NO 029KP CONTACT this no 0732065006 FOR YOUR CLAIMS. This is a message I received. Please let me know if this is a fraud sms.

I then called Mr Mark and was asked for my banking details and Postal address to deliver the cell phone to. Sorry, but this was to good to be true, so I gave him an old empty bank account. (never know, I might get some bucks, Just maybe!!!). Anyway , I was SMS,ed back to say I must pay R1885 for insurance approval and delivery of my Nokia and call mark for details. MMMmmm something fishy here people. hey, I,m waiting for his banking details so I can hand the matter over….hope someone at nokia is paying attention. fools are loosing money to these guys in your name
I got a text message, that my mobile number has won R250 000.00 on the Nokia year promotion with a tickect number:0166p and told me I must call this number:083 746 1924.I need to know where is this a fraud because they have asked for my bank details?
just an update: I recieved the banking details from Mark regarding me making a payment to secure my Nokia e72 and the R150 000. Yay!!!!!! the details that were sms,d to me are :RC MAKWAKWA 62344827798. first national bank africa 250655. Fax your slip to 0027865438843.
the fact that this looks like a personal account means that should I ever deposite the R1885 in to secure the so called nokia e72 and the R150 000, I would never get to see either and would be less the R1885. I,m sure he is making a lot of money off desperate people who fall for these cons.
with best regards.

I also receivied a sms this morning that I have won R150 000.00 in the 2012 nokia yearly promotion, at first I was schocked, I never won anything in my life. My mistake is I have sent through my details before I red the scam complains, I phoned the person back and told him I was unemployed for a year now and I am not sure if te account is working still.I have received a sms back that I must pay R2 .850.00 for transfer cost. Please people do not make the same mistake I did, I am very worried now, why do they need your banking details, can they get access to your bank account, do they have all your information allready, and access will be easy. Hopefully the people at the bank are more clued up to regonice a scam like this.
Got all that and more. Made the biggest mistake. Got the air time, paid the transfer fees, insurance fees and tax clearance……. Mrs Botha got me as well. What do I do now?

Hi. I got an sms from people who said are of Nokia and said I’ve won a BMW X6 and gave a ref. no and an email: rica.za@safrica. Their e-mail is not working. They didn’s say what should I do to claim this prize.
Received SMS saying: “Congratulations! Your mobile number has been randomly picked in NOKIA yearly promo. You have won R950,000-00 Ref no: NK265 contact 0789107611 for claims”.
I phoned and guess who answered the phone? Sandra Atkins. I think it is time that Nokia and the service providers should establish a service where these hooligans can be traced and brouhgt to justice.
