I enjoy programming and from time to time I come up with simple yet useful ideas for WordPress plugins.
I’ve written two three plugins so far and you’re welcome to use them:
1. Remind Me

Remind Me helps you create deep links on your blog easily with it’s fancy jQuery look up window in the Write Panel of your Dashboard.
2. WP Google Alerts

WP Google Alerts allows you to view your Google Alerts from inside your WordPress Dashboard.
3. TweetBottom

TweetBottom is a fantastic way to grow your Twitter followers by placing a link to your Twitter account under each blog post you write.
Have an idea for a WordPress plugin? Please consider popping it in as a comment below and I’ll see what I can do.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for creating these great plugins.
I am in search of Google Alert plugin that can automatically publish my alerts to a certain on my website, say, http://www.example.com/Google-Alert/
It looks like that your plugin above only appears in WP dashboard. But, I want the alerts to publish in my site.
Also, I need the plugin to be manipulated. I should be able to whitelist or blacklist some websites, as there are many who spam.
Any lead? Please let me know. I appreciate your help.
Best regards,
Keddy
Thank you for your comment Keddy, I’ll definitely consider that as a feature in the next release. Why, may I ask, would you want your alerts on an actual page? I ask purely out of interest :)
Great to chat about these things and see how we can evolve!
Having the alert to go to a certain page in my website will help me bring in more traffic, and since I am using alert for the key words I am looking for, it will help me with my SEO efforts, too.
Any one has a lead? Please add your comment.
Thanks.
Hi Keddy,
So what you’re saying is that bringing alerts onto a page is like creating content on that page, which is targeted because of the keywords you’re using?
I don’t believe that this will work though, it’ll be duplicate content firstly and then you’ll be increasing your external links by a huge amount..
Actually, Chris, I’m interested in this too, though I may not be thinking about this right. What I want is to semi-automatically publish links to articles relating to the subject of my client’s website, the devastating wildfire that burned 4 communities last year in Colorado in the US. There is still a substantial effort at recovery – physical, financial, emotional- and flooding remains a major concern. This would feed articles from a number of publications so RSS feeds don’t really work. This would have nothing to do with SEO – just a service for the reader, interested in the recovery efforts.

Hi Chris
Please let me know what plugin/s you recommend for sharing. My blog is sport related, and I just cant seem to find the right share buttons that make it easier to share to both Facebook and Twitter (others are a benefit) – but not a necessity.
Thanks for the great blog. I’m new here – and I come back frequently!
Please help :-)
Regards
Bobby
Hi Bobby, depends what you want to share to be honest, but I’m a big fan of the custom sharing buttons that Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google Plus offer on their websites. Perform a Google search for “twitter website button” or “facebook website button” or the likes and they provide all the codes for you to copy and paste. It’s not as simple as a plugin, but it’s definitely the way I recommend you go..
Hi there… I appreciated your effort, but to be honest I do not care less to see the alert into the dashboard, I receive the email from Google and is enough.
I’m also looking for a way to publish Google alert that I receive via email into some page or post of my blog automatically.
Thank you for your comment ArtphotoasiA.
@Chris, I guess this mean you don’t sleep either?
Thanks Chris. I’m installing the Twitter button on one of my blogs
chris,
I guess everyone is saying the same. I can use a plugin that takes google alert, filtered by keyword, and places it on a post or page like I did with an RSS feed. RSS is limited to one source whereas Google alerts gives me various different sources. aggregating news is not against Google terms, and one can always delete alerts older than x days.
thank you for your help
Michael

Hi Keddy,
Unfortunately I’m not supporting these plugins at the moment because of other commitments. Please feel free to hire a developer who can make the changes and I’ll happily update this post and give credit to whoever assisted. Thank you for your support!
I am a website designer. I would love to have a google Alerts Widget that would appear in a sidebar. i.e. I am doing a website for a deceased artist whose paintings, when they sell, are now reaching a million $ I want to be able to have info about him appear in the widget.
@Sharon :-)
Not sure if this will do or not…I have yet to try it

It is setting up a Google Alerts Feed in wp-robot widget (or something)
I’m trying to use WP GoogleAlerts and get the following:

What version of WordPress are you running, Chris? This sounds very much like a hosting problem (hence the PHP issue) or a WordPress installation problem. I installed the plugin for someone the other day on the latest version of WordPress without a problem..
Hey Chris I would like the google alerts info to show up on my page to give my clients updates on the sweepstake industry how can i do this with your plugin?
I have used the Google Alert Plugin successfully before. I am trying to install it to another site and it is telling me I don’t have permission…I am the only Administrator. Advice?
Is there a way to get more than one google alerts feed?
