I’ve owned an iPad and an iPad Mini for a really long time, the iPad was quickly taken by my wife and I was left with the iPad Mini. To be honest, I haven’t really found too much use for the iPad Mini – at the moment it sits on my desk at work and displays share prices, but that’s essentially all. What I wanted was to be able to extend my desktop onto it as a second monitor but all the software I tried failed horribly – either compatibility issues or massive lag.

Well, that was until yesterday when I came across Duet Display (, an application that does exactly what I want and the best part, it’s been created by an ex-Apple engineer called Rahul Dewan – huge expectations when I heard that he used to work on the iPad and iMac at Apple for 3 years! I quickly tweeted a buddy of mine, Andre, who’s always been a huge minimalist and he quickly downloaded it and tested it out:

This was music to my ears – Andre doesn’t muck around, the tests things properly and if he says it’s a good option then it definitely will be. My iPad Mini is at the office so I haven’t tested it out myself, but come tomorrow it’ll be the first thing I do. Andre tweeted out a photograph earlier:

So.. someone has truly come up with a workable solution! The best part, it’s highly compatible:
